Tim Russert interview with HST

Post by sooZen » February 27th, 2005, 8:09 am

I was idlely flipping thru the dials last night and happened to catch the last 35 minutes or so of an interview that Tim did with Hunter in Feb, 2003. (CNBC) It was typical of all celebrity interviews in that HST was pumping his latest book but atypical in that it was Hunter being interviewed by Russert.

I have to note that Hunter looked like hell on a summer day in the desert. He was stooped over, bloated and his words were hard to understand. The usual glass of ice and drink ( most likely Chivas) sat in front of him. Russert was particularly jovial and amused and Hunter was particularly aged. (Instead of looking like a man in his sixties, he coulda' been a codger in his eighties.)

Hunter did talk about his passion for life and living...but to me, he looked half-dead already. He did inject some life into his interview by screaming when a word he was searching for escaped him and spitting something out of his mouth (like some farmer) onto the table.
I know, I pay attention to the details...but it was a great find.

Now I know why he shot himself in the head...or at least, I have an inkling.

Peace,

I caught the last ten minutes or so of that too but it seemed sort of superfulous to me because on Friday night, Charley Rose played back segments of three interviews with HST that spanned a ten year period--it was fascinating--much better than what I saw with Russert--the Rose program showed some of T's best as well as the deterioration of health he suffered.

On an unrelated note. Speaking of swearing that you didn't see a thing, did you notice that one of the listed potential defense witnesses in the Michael Jackson trial is none other than Little Stevie Wonder?

That's gotta be some kind'a first. Only in California.

Defense Lawyer: Now Mr. Wonder, you stated under oath earlier that you were a frequent guest at Mr. Jackson's ranch at various times over the years, true?

Stevie Wonder: Yes. Yes sir, Mr. Jackson and I are old friends and I've been an overnight guest at his ranch at least 20 times in the past 10 years.

Defense Lawyer: And during these overnight visits, Mr Wonder, did you ever observe any improper or undue behavior by Mr. Jackson in regard to ...say, children or juveniles, who were also guests?

Stevie Wonder:(after a brief silence)....Uh, no sir. No, I never saw Mr. Jackson behave improperly at all. Not once.

Defense Lawyer: I see. Thank you Mr. Wonder. No further questions.

ha ha, scoot

Ray Charles is dead or else he would be a witness too

That reminds me of a cut from an old Roland Kirk album

he comes out on stage and says, "Me and the guys was smokin' back stage and I have to tell you, I was totally blind when I came out here."
"These words don't make me a poet, these Eyes make me a poet."
