Sign a Get-Well card for Steve Weaver (aka "saw")
Our friend poet/artist Steve Weaver is undergoing cancer surgery tomorrow (Nov 18 2022) - let's wish him well on his journey. Healing vibes couldn't hurt either!
Best of luck, old man - Studio 8 is what it is largely because of you...........

Re: Sign a Get-Well card for Steve Weaver (aka "saw")
Hey...thanx so much colleagues and friends.......A little update: I had a lobectomy ( not a lobotomy... HAHA ) on Nov.17th...it's also called a resectioning, which is a bit of a misnomer because they basically lop off a part of your lung to send to pathology.....there were 3 nodules....2 in one lung ... 1 in the other.....two were deep and smaller. so they took the larger one which was also closer......the bad news is I have metastasized stage 4 lung cancer.....and the cancer is melanoma
Scary diagnosis, I'll admit....however I saw a doctor this week who is an expert from Johns Hopkins in both dermatology ( because this is skin cancer that landed in my lung ) and oncology....low and behold there is an immunotherapy drug that is relatively new that specifically targets stage 3 and stage 4 melanoma with a great track record.....If my blood work is ok, I could get my first infusion very soon.....that would be followed up with a second and a 3rd infusion...each 4 weeks apart..And then scans to see if it is working.....the percentages for success are surprisingly very high...
The recovery from the surgery has been tough.....very painful.....and would appear they somehow hurt my right upper arm which of course the surgeon says upon follow up, that has nothing to do with the surgery......A coincidence ?.....trying to get to the bottom of it....because it is a quality of life issue.....my dominant arm....last week I had doc appts. every single day
Phew....I haven't been to drive my car in over a month because of pain meds...so my family and friends have pitched in to get me where I need to go...Lucky Guy
anyway. thanx so much for the well-wishes....means a lot to me
I'll keep you posted....Steve ( saw )

Good to hear from you, Steve.
Stage 4, with a good chance of receiving new life-giving treatment! (so lucky timing, hopefully).
So sorry about your arm getting caught up in all this. Not your painting arm. That's just a crime against humanity.
and I hope the pain meds were effective keeping agony at bay.
Wishing that the path leads you to recovery.
best - Judih
