WHAT'S NEW ARTIST-HEARTS?
i'm back in school, and enjoying the over-abundance of taking 6 credits. the class i'm enjoying most is Classical Theatre, covering much greek & roman mythology and the differences and similarities between theatre and ritual.
remember this song ... "One of these things is not like the others, which one doesn't belong?" that's me in my Design class. all the other students seem to be on a similar wavelength, but me... i dunno ... can't seem to simplify things, keeping them more complex than maybe they need to be. either i'm just not getting it, or else perhaps i'm some kind of design genius or something. either way, i feel like a bit of a black sheep there, but all the biggies were black sheep, so i'm going with that.
oh yes, i have wedged out for myself a wonderful opportunity at Neptune Theatre. i wrote to them about breaking into Scenic Dressing and Painting because i'm especially interested in researching period sets. i.e. They are currently staging The Diary of Anne Frank so the set must be dressed in furniture that would be available in that time period, in that region of the world, and if the family had fallen from wealth the furnishings would be old already; what kind of light fixtures, what stove and refiridgeration methods, what luggage, etc.... so it looks like i'm 'in', i'm just awaitng news of my schedule.
K.T. has finished his Shakespearian-marathon of a summer, and is currently enjoying a brief rest before taking on yet another of his dream roles... it looks like he's heading to toronto in the very near future, he got a phonecall requesting his talents as Iago in Othello! one of his cast-mates is directing this new production, and couldn't get enough of him, i suppose.
and yesterday, we celebrated our 1 year Wedding Anniversary! he cooked me a scrumptious vegetarian Pad Thai dinner with edamame for the appetizer and surprised me with a gorgeous, single, paper-white rose. and since paper is the traditional gift for the 1st anniversay, i printed for him a short-story by patti smith, thanks to anonymous-one who posted a very helpful link.
our marriage has even been so generous as to make a little room for a new member ... no, no booties or blankets being knitted, but we think we've found a tiny niche for our very special friend Sarah, a gorgeous, talented, and fascinating jewish woman with eyes of gingerbread, and pixie-curled hair like cinnamon and honey swirled together. an ambitious Director in her own right, she has plans for our little family collaborating in a Steve Martin play someday. and i have plans too, of a bungalow with a second bedroom. she drinks gin and smokes clove cigarettes with sugared tips.
our cup may yet spill over with love and abundance... what's new inside the poetry box? i've barely touched these keys in weeks. any new symphonies being composed out there?
