Hey Ratso!
We got hacked. It's been a long day. Woke up to Turkish hacker's signature all over the front page.... a big eyeball... and some strange music. Took us a while to get back... For a while, we lost 3 forums. Creative Writing was gone and 2 other ones. The only solution was to ask the host restore the database from a backup.... so as a result, we lost about 15 hours of posts.... Sorry about that!
The good news is, now we're running the current version of the software which will help gaurd against something similar in the future and not only that, I'm going to get a good night's sleep tonight because I'm beat.

We got hacked!?
But who would do such a thing?
and why?
Anyway, the post I made was called "cool.tv"
it started off by praising your new banner, very cool.
then it asked you about the dot tv domain. I don't think I've ever seen a dot tv domain before coming to the studio. Does this denote some kind of affiliation with a tv station? silly question maybe, but I don't know.

I call them modern day grafitti artists. Then, I got corrected. Modern day vandals. Ugh. Wish they scratched my car with their car keys instead. It would have taken less time to get some touch up paint. I got an education today, that's for sure. Now, I know how to upgrade this software! LOL!
Why do they do it? I donno, but apparently the phpbb software is a target quite often. They send out worms to break in and cause havoc. I had the feeling this was going to happen because 'truckin said a post of his had changed and he didn't do it and mnaz said he was seeing the Turkish language and even though both of those guys can be a little trippy

... I knew they weren't hallucinating. It was just a matter of time. With every upgrade of this software, it gets more and more safe to attacks like this. Sometimes I think it's the people who are selling bulletin board software who are sending out hacks to hack the open source free software because the competition is huge. Then again, I have a wild imagination sometimes.
Thanks.... glad you like the banner... it's an older one, really, that I recycled in.
The dot tv thing was somewhat of an accident. I had chosen the name STudio Eight.... I'd had that name for a long long time, actually, using it as an email address thinking that one day I'd make a company or something out of it and then the website idea happened and I thought "perfect name" and went to register studioeight dot com but it was taken. Soooo..... since "tv" was available, I chose that because later, we're going to have spoken word and music videos and review odd tv stuff and movies and like that, so I thought dot tv fit really well, sorta like we'll be our own internet tv show.... And we're thinking of having shows, like we have the Word Jams and the one Improv Play which was a whole lot of fun, but regular shows, too.
So, wanna have your own show? Think of an idea for a weekly 1/2 hour internet show and we'll do it! You can be host!

the hackers generally work for the anti-hacker companies to generate business.
worms and viruses are a great economic game.

I though it was just me. I noticed SooZen's post to birthday haiku is gone, and I had a couple deleted too. Now I don't feel so special anymore. I googled the hacker and found a couple more sites he has hacked the same way.
