Out of Books, Out of Mind

Post by lovingpenfull » October 31st, 2005, 2:29 am

Well, I was just a goin down the river, reading all peaceful like, when suddenly the book I's reading up a quit on me, run out a pages. Well, you ain't never seen such a body covort and tanlge his self up the way I's doing, out a frustration for the book a ending so up-bruptly and all. Laws, I surely am without anything to read now and on the look out for some new material. That Huck Finn had me right there on the raft with him and Jim and then the book up and ends that way, what I'm going read now? Here I am, one'v the few Americans to be found in these parts in a holy city called Varanasi, it is here that the Ganges passes and here that the water's down right septic. What's more is that folks burn they dead relatives right there on the river bank on these 'burning Ghats' so's they called. Just right there out the open, the bodies are washed in the dirtiest of rivers, then put on the pyre, and the family kindles 'em up and lights 'em ablaze. Why, just the other day I was walking by and seened a pile of burning logs with a human leg stickin out, the skin on it just a boilin and a sizzlin; a body ain't never seen sech a place as this. I tell you I couldn't stuck around long as the smoke and ash get to you and drive you away. I always feel a little ashamed a gawkin at them bodies with the families around, but the Indians they don't care. I'll give a full report of it later on in a few days, with out the Missouri circa 1840's draw in the speech and give the facts just as they are on this place here there in the 'Eye Wittness' section, also in the news, bombings in Delhi and a Kali festival coming up. What should I read next?
I am looking for a home for my thoughts.

And Papi, well, I plum forget what he is.
This is the centre of the universe.
My tribe is gathered around me.
Behold me.

Blamed if this ain't the darnest con-in-sidence I ever saw, and I ain't a putting on airs even if I am going on with the southern draw likes I am. I jest read Papillion a few books before I read Huck! And I can relate some of that onery plot just to prove it if'n you want, as it's all still freash in my mind. The way Papi leaks out and steals away so many times just to get roped back each time, they really did him a bad turn there, seeings how he was innocent all along. Anyways, I guess you jest goin have to reckomend some other book as I done read Papillion. Oh, by the way, I don't reckon it is my business what my chile's teeacher's up to nights, provided that he ain't a breaking no laws and ain't mixed up in no perversions. Have a bully of a time out there on the town, and if'n they do see you, what they goin do? You answer me that.

Never run out of road. The worst nightmare for a trucker. Out of books sounds just as bad. Fortunately I got of couple that I can always fall back on. I have been reading them about thirty years. One, by Husserl I still go about a hundred pages to go. If you got about forty five minutes to spare you could read the Davinci Code. Took me about four hours but I am a slow reader.
