well, i sincerely hope that today's Literary Kicks' question is supposed to be a self-parody, 'cause if not, that's one hell of a self-destructing text!

anyway, i've been abstaining from October Earth and will continue to do so, and every time i check out what's going on, it gets sillier and sillier, no offense to those participating.

I was actually enjoying the writing assignments, but I'm completely CRANKED over this latest debacle (LRod's post, below) and I hope participation over there will come to a complete and sudden HALT until it's cleared up. This exactly what I meant in my post about thought and opinion being the new tools of discrimination for the 21st century.

This reminds me of something that happened when I worked in a hospital cafeteria years ago. We had a woman employee who entered the line every single day complaining graphically about the food. She annoyed everybody (not JUST one person!) and finally management decided they would do something about it. She was fired. Fired for having an opinion about the cafeteria food and expressing it on her breaks! This generated a long written correspondence between me and another employee who was acting on her behalf via the ACLU. I learned a few things about Freedom of Speech and what happens when we give too much power to corporations, websites, individuals, et cetera. Pretty soon there will be no free zones anywhere where people can be themselves without fear of recrimination.

Naturally, I think there are limits to this. I set my limits FAR down the line from wherever Levi sets his, however, and crushing out people because you don't personally like or agree with them is totally unacceptable to me.

I need to go focus on something else now. I am pretty steamed ...
