A poem

I am waiting in the vestibule
And I am waiting
For they’re to be no poor or all poor
Whichever is most convenient.
I am waiting for
My obsession with pop culture to end
And I am waiting
To forget “satisfaction.”
I am waiting to
Neglect to drive in apocalyptic weather
And I am waiting to be smited by god.
I am waiting
For crap food to be expensive
Because the poor deserve much better.
I am waiting
For something good on the TV
Like MTV with less boobies.
I am waiting
For peace on earth
And lots of other kitsch shit.
But hallmark has copyright over it.
I am waiting
For Dylan to die
In hopes of his rebirth.
I am waiting
To see leaves of grass materialize
“Who need be afraid of the merge?”
I am waiting
For art on canvas to die
In hopes of its rebirth in me.
So I won’t have to eat this paper.
And I am waiting
For telepathy to replace instant messaging.
If not, genuine connection will do.
I am a self loathing heterosexual
And I am a despot in the dark.
I am waiting
To let this poem end
I am waiting.
