"Melissa's life is moving
Never knowing where she is bound
Searching in the hearts of others
for a love she never found

And
She said
Don't look down upon my life
Don't judge my words a lie
Cause you can't be any better than the worst you recognize"

"they say she drank too much
shot needles in her thighs
when I saw melissa
I saw Jesus in disguise"

He went to Nashville in the seventies he was going to be a star, he got his tunes ripped off and strange advice.

One record company executive told him to change the line from Jesus in disguise to Hank Williams in disguise.

He is the kindest man I know. But I been feeling a lot of kindness from the Dalai Lama these days. Reading a book about him by an American Psychiatrist. Well not exactly about him, more like with him. The Art of Happiness.

Something in the last 2 lines bothers me too.
I like the way the first "paragraph" gives way to the next.
And the lyrics are simple enough to leave space for feeling, no unnecessary guidelines, right to the point.

I like it

There was a woman who was on a hejira.

"Melissa rode with anyman who offered her a ride
they never stopped to wonder at the heart ache in her eyes"

my brother was one of few who did stop.

Thank you for reading.

I call him jitterbug cause that is what crazy mike used to call him in scorn. Mike said he was pleasure mad because all he wanted to do was dance with girls. Jitterbugging was a dance style at the dawn of rock and roll in the early fifties. It had its origins in the hep kats of the forties. Here is a self portrait. He doodles a lot and I try to collect his scraps of paper. This one was done on the back of a phone message form.

Birth order psychology is interesting. He is the middle child, a blonde blue eyed stranger in our family of black hair and hazel eyes.

thanks

well, you tell me the way you call him: that´s the origin of all our names, we were called something by somebody else somewhere.
Are the internet names an exception?

I call this picture Cain and Abel. Abel is jitterbug on the right in this photo.

He is named after our great grandmother. I do not know Hebrew but it sounded something like Yaheel. It translated into English as Eugene.

My friends used to call me gypsy boy. I never knew I was an exception.

Great lyrics...I'm not so sure about the junkie mystique as a match for Nashville though...............

I lived on Music Row (16th avenue) for a couple of years in the seventies... Plenty of drugs. Just as decadent as Hollywood in the seventies. Probably still is.

Hank Williams died of an OD.

"and she said
I can't match your morals
Lord knows I tried
but as many times I ventured
is as many times I cried."

I am quoting all these lyrics from memory, probably screwed them up.

thanks for taking the time to reply.
