Is the Republican Convention in NYC going to turn into a rodeo?

there are a quarter million demonstrators expected, spearheaded by some very savvy and experienced agitators and organizers.

I can't remember a more explosive situation since Chicago in 1968 when I sat knee to knee with Allen Ginsberg and chanted the OM with teargas in our lungs.

The NY police are already erecting pens for the expected unwilling guests that they will be entertaining.

What do you think might happen in NYC next week besides a mock coronation?

There will be protests, and some arrests. But I don't think the situation
will explode. Perhaps this is just more of my wishful thinking. An all-out
riot doesn't do the Democrats any favors in the public opinion arena.

I don't know.... my recent 'wishful thinking' record isn't too good.... like the time I wished Nader wouldn't run, or the time I wished that Bush might show some good judgment, against staggering odds (many entries, here)....

We'll see.
