Where I work, in the southwest of the city, there are piquetes until today. Burnt gomas smoke since every morning, and lot of streets cut what make the busses do erratical recorridos. Most of my students lives in FONAVI's (a laberynt of departamentos constructed by the National Fund of the Vivienda long time ago) and "social" houses that suffered damages but not total. The malestar in the neighborhood against the ones that do the piquetes is in crescendo. Today, a father of one of the kids (a rather silent man) , bike in hand, couldn't stop to talk to me before enter the school: "where I work we are prepared to the worst" (the ghost of saqueos appear so easy), "for bad, my boss se torció the ankle because the storm and he's really mad", "this have to stop, I have friends that are police and they say they don't support the situation anymore..", "they (the people with roofs destroyed by the storm) sold the chapas the gobierno gave them for 15 pesos", " I am really mad... we are really mad nowadays". I guess he need someone to listen... (as almost everybody) I can only said, it's sad, I'm sure there are people who really need help, take it easy. His daughter, a brilliant kid, was all the time listening with attention. He wave smiling.
The government called the piqueteros to stop the piquetes. They say it's possible there are people without help until today, but that they will open new oficinas to attend the reclamos puntuales.
The governor is saying that he will not stop the reclamos with the police. And that the rumors of saqueos are from political opportunists (the other saqueos weren't in peronista's governments, do you remember governor...?)
And there were people attacked from piqueteros (people that want to pass anyway).
It’s difficult to enter the city from the north of Buenos Aires and Cordoba… people don’t want to came here now for the difficult in the circulation.
For the piqueteros is also an apportunity to re/new reclamos in relation with social viviendas, work and social help. If I had no job, no money and no house I'd do the same or something similar or worst. If I were the father of the kid and work in a dangerous zone, have more kids, have no enough money, have an insoportable boss, have police friends... I don't know... It's so complex and at the same time so easy to understand... (and sometimes I wonder if there is really anything to understand...)
And I'm seeing George Bush kids been robbed here...
