low key
drunk on one knee
below the lock
and now I'm fucked
but I got a plan
to finally stand
I hope my wife
don't ever find
on my neck
the big old red
highkey.

i lost
my key
locked out
again
but i happened
to see
your light on
so...
uh, can i use your phone?
yeah, just to call a ride...
no, no..it's not far.

so i got in their car
and ended up
somewhere in
bumblefuck

with sultry sax-sounds
from the cheap speakers
and gin on their breath
and holes in my sneakers
with my big toe
peeking out
checking if
all is well
cause all the rest
of my being
jus can't tell

so...now i see
all along the key
was in my pocket
just didn't dig
my hand in far enough
and now
i'm riding
in the dark with
someone most peculiar....

when the lord gave out free passes
i passed out

here i am on the rebound
slow lane
watching ideas disappear in the dark

bubbles turn to good witches
shooting stars turn to fast wishes

a miraculous ride
on a rotating planet

a free pass
to digress
if i wish

on a star
flying low
like a hitchhiking
seed

clinging to my genes
sticking to my strand
my one offa kind
double helix ID card.

DNA playtime
pick a helix, any helix
don't show me,
now put it back on the slide

presto!
changeo
a cloned persona

and there's more where that came from

a helix offers a helluva good time
(we, we, we, we, we, we,...
all concur)

a wee bit
too many

this place just
ain't ready

for more than
a single
4degree angle

my digits do tangle
a perfect rectangle
you are
not far
from where i sit
right now.

hot one
this seat perches on a ninety degree angle
one more hour to wait

i am in perfect balance
one strange itch and i'll fall

a lone bird signals new directions
in a constant voice
she, an uncloned carrier of hope

i dare not fly her way

falling
i understand
cause i'm headin'
right that way
time to crash
so i don't burn
hope you enjoyed
my smallish turn
i'll do it again
soon...somewhat soonish
won't stay gone so long
til next time
.....4 you.....

panta's totin' a rifle?
am i right? am i the first
to think that is a rifle?
she looks like patty hearst!
hey, doreen -

this reply's late,
but there had been a night
between then
and now.

no, rifle, no:
a paddle.

this was when
(some time ago)
i was balancing in the front
of a small rocking rubber boat,
feet slipped into the gaps
between the bottom and the
inflated sides
so i won't fall
playing 'no woman, no cry'
on the paddle.

you can't see in in the pic,
but we were gliding right
into the sunset...

low key
minor chords
blue notes

singing low
in friday glow
humming free
on swaying boards
with warming throats
swinging low
sweet chariot

low key
off key
in key
with cradling boats
melodious flow

up shiz creak
wid-out a rifle

to stifle thought
is to learn

this is the education
out from under
a gun

run
don't squalk
the timing is everything

bring your best
and save the rest
to your hard drive
I don't think 'Therefore, I am.' Therefore, I am.

when that chariot commin for to carry me home
come on the scene

those low bass feelings of going home

paddling home
home on song
among blue chords
and white squalls

ducking down
down under rifles and gusts
low position
canoe holding its own
gliding forward
on the deep bass of return
that calls us home
