I had a herb garden in Hillsboro

for purposes of discretion I moved it from outside
into an underground greenhouse

there was a particularly sturdy female plant growing in my yard
one night I spent about six hours digging it up
the root ball was about three feet across

I transplanted it into a bathtub
and moved the bathtub to the greenhouse

The plant seemed to flourish.
I went down there every day and played my flute to my plants.
I usually played "I Enjoy Being a Girl." from Oklahoma
that's because in that type of agriculture you want female plants
as in human life, males are nearly useless.

But my efforts were to no avail
the eight foot plant in the bathtub queered out on me an turned to a male
this happens sometime when the plant is shocked
I guess the transplant made it go transgender.

I listened to Willie Nelson
all night until dawn.
Blue eyes crying in the rain.
I couldn't wait. I had to hear it.
I love that tune.

What are you all talking about?
What are you waiting for?
Tell me.

What did you do all night?
Tell me.
I can't wait to hear.

I'm back in the culture of rain,
absorbed into the evergray forest,
pressed by a thick, stoic drizzle.
I've traded dust for muffled murk
The trail came to an peculiar end
My dust drifted across the valley,
carrying on.

Now it is out of reach.
I cannot return for awhile,
except to scale the height
of my desert mind,
and obsess over dust...

I'm heading out on the trail,
first gear, second...
the day coming into sight...

I have seen that movie Flower Drum song with my true love, she loved musicals, and I alwaays thought that song was from that movie. But of course it has meen forty seven years since i saw it. SOmething about with a pound and a half of cold cream on my face, and something

speaking of sex, that last morning on the couch after I told her no to her proposal of marriage on my mother's advice, as we lay there with the feeling of my penis in her vagina, that feeling still with me today, and she said no, and I looked at her face and knew that she meant it, I I with drew, which was got dam hard to do, I think I may have done one thing in my life to that I am not ashamed of. one decent thing for a woman.

Minutes are detained
by still winds only long
enough to imitate a
photograph. Soon, the
time-lapse plays rapid
frames, and you, caught
up in the frenzy, attempt
a replay only moments
later.

It is only necessary to rise, your eyes
open to horizon's frame beneath the sky,
accept your tiny space and fly,
menses released!

If I waited to do
what I want to do
until I was finished doing
all I had to do, I'd never
do what I desire.

Some things are required.
Some abandoned, intended.

It's not the time allotted.
It's how you spend it.

(i'm repeating myself. I'm sorry.)

time tried to root me
but i found i was no plant
water tried to feed me
but impressions count too
in sunlight i bathed
but it wasn't the only food
loving myself set me free
while need would prefer to root

candy darling walked the wild side
smiled at the camera
boogied to the manhattan beat
suffered a life all done, all uprooted
when it was time to transplant,
she said so long
too long
and she turned into a memory

the politics of pot
home grown patriotic
no guns and money
yes victory gardens the way to go
that song just punched a moment
what started out to be our farewell kiss
got heated and one thing led to another
and then we were naked and petting
and then when I went to enter her
she came to her senses
and said no
but i did not listen and in a heart beat I was in her
and she said no again
unprotected sex
maybe she was saying no to that
if you think I am a sick puppy now
god all mighty you did not want to know me then
no idea what the future would have been if she got pregnant
later as she slipped on her bra on with such a sad face
I think she knew what a long lonely trip I was going to have
And Hegel the bagel said everything in history happens twice
once for tragedy and once as farce
then I met spiderwoman and realized it was true
expect I managed to make it a tragedy both times
And now I been thinking about finding a senior center somewhere that has waltz lessons.

time is a software program
imbedded in the mind
plenty of glitches
even when it seems to run just fine
no microscope
masspectrometer nor
nor lens nor eye
no portal
no reason
no telescope nor rhyme
can capture
indicate
nor measure sublime
anywhere in nature
the existence of time

ah memories
sweet and terrible
if there is no time
then there is no music

the body has its own memories
when amputees feel the pain of phantom limbs
love begins with the first breath of a baby
there is no going home after that
cause we carry our home with us
where ever we stand

thinking about the pregnant women in Niger again
and the dick heads who put them in that situation in the middle of a famine

I just want to dance
