The 2nd Annual Spring Equinox Word Jam

Post by Ann Bingham » March 27th, 2006, 9:21 am

so much to think about
to absorb. truth lies
somewhere at my door.
wolves gather, without
forked tongues
better to be woofed at
then lied to.
the wise holds a key
like spring in late winter
with her highs and lows.
highs warm my heart
lows make me bitter
truth makes my heart soar
lies make me hide my head
like an ostrich whose feathers turn dull.

time is the bitter enemy
it rapes the mind
and steals the soul.
but cannot steal memories left
behind for others to wonder through.
spring is the time to revisit what
makes us whole
and savoy rebirth, and sometimes death
remembering the soul lives on
searching for another vessel
stronger then the one we left behind.

love lots ST

Deb.

remembering the soul lives on
I am a walking contradiction
I don't need no bad science to convince me
No body has to prove to me me I got one
Out beyond the reach of my senses
Are more things than I have dreamed of

I love change
The summers can be so monotomous here
Day after day of high heat and humidity
These are the best days

I don't want to miss a minute
Not a single breath of it

Yeah time is the unbending deserter
And I have lived my life as if I was immortal
Now I see what I have lost
But I also see what I have gained

All is well

give me the beat boys to free my soul
I want to get lost in your rock and roll

in friend ship
jack tilles

and drift away.

where the air is pure
clean, inviting, refreshing
exhilarating, live giving
and the birds soon sing
and life will soon renew itself again.

spring forward the clocks
next weekend.
can hardly contain my love
for the season at hand.
all is well in the land of make
believe.

all is well in the land of make
believe.
Ah so true
yes so true

I think this is the most perfect spring I have ever experienced
Rain today and almost warm but not quite
Not cool not warm just so right
This could be Camelot
Rain in perfect measure.

Speaking of make believe have you ever tasted a Quark? they come in six different flavours.
Quarks are found in six types (called flavours). In 1989 it was shown that only three pairs of quarks can exist. These correspond with the three leptons and the three neutrinos

waiting for a hurricane
before summer's swelter
hoping for a spring blow
swirling through
belting rain
to ease my pain
a soft slow lament
that went away
leaving traces of winter
in fermenting satori

The sentimental sound of rain.
Everything is beautiful and nothing hurts
vonnegut paraphrase.

On a pain free day
gentle spring
lingers here

The best time of year here
Spring is sweet but short
Summer swelter any day now

Walking through puddles
Thinking about walkers
Any day now
I will be toddling along leaning on one
after my stroke or heart attack
Thinking about when I was just a kid at 65
Still able to walk
I grow shorter and wider
I can tell my future just look what's in my hand
I have lost an inch and a half
Down to 5' 9" 1/2
Up to 235
this weight has got to go
I love to walk
I love to breathe
I love life
More than I love
Love
thinking about people who die from broken hearts
My heart is unbroken
That is my problem
April is my kindest month
and I am an old spring fool

my heart has been broken so many times
ever since Cindy in the third grade
and still wonder from day to day
how it will all turn out
and fears and tears are all about
this early spring

still spring training around here
went to a game three weeks ago
spent a hundred overall
and the national anthem a prayer
for openness
and caution
for blooming idiots
and outsourced townhall meetings
and little fishing villages along the Amazon
where spring means eternal exuinox
and baseball is but a notion
way up north

i wear my cap and shades allways
bright interior lights
nice when they go out in a storm
play ball!

I love you jimboloco
Play ball
Baseball in the international league
a green bakelite radio
a summer night in Baltimore
back in the forties
The same radio tuned to The Jewish hour on sundays
But on baseball nights the radio was on
My uncle a veteran of the 101st
A good jew boy going to fight the Nazis
Back home and listenign to the O's before they went big time
Bleacher seats for a quater
dem was duh days
when all the evil in the world was in Japan and Germany
And Uncle Joe Staling was our friend
And we knew who the good guys was
US

Broken hearts and broken dicks
twenty six years since a freezing morning in Virginia when I could not get it up
Fucking egg shell male ego
Never crossed my mind that I was shivering with goose bumps
the wood stove burned out
It must have been ten below in that bed room
and me the schmuck who tried to get it up
First time I struck out at bat
Then twenty four years later a nice jewish girl RN grabed hold of me
The first time I have ever had my blood pressure checked like that. My arm pressed up agianst her body from top to bottom.

And all I got was hysterical paralysis
My arm was stiff for a week

Yeah I kid you not it gnaws at me
I want to be a priest

Sylvia Plath - Dialogue Between Ghost And Priest

In the rectory garden on his evening walk
Paced brisk Father Shawn. A cold day, a sodden one it was
In black November. After a sliding rain
Dew stood in chill sweat on each stalk,
Each thorn; spiring from wet earth, a blue haze
Hung caught in dark-webbed branches like a fabulous heron.

Hauled sudden from solitude,
Hair prickling on his head,
Father Shawn perceived a ghost
Shaping itself from that mist.

'How now,' Father Shawn crisply addressed the ghost
Wavering there, gauze-edged, smelling of woodsmoke,
'What manner of business are you on?
From your blue pallor, I'd say you inhabited the frozen waste
Of hell, and not the fiery part. Yet to judge by that dazzled look,
That noble mien, perhaps you've late quitted heaven?'

In voice furred with frost,
Ghost said to priest:
'Neither of those countries do I frequent:
Earth is my haunt.'

'Come, come,' Father Shawn gave an impatient shrug,
'I don't ask you to spin some ridiculous fable
Of gilded harps or gnawing fire: simply tell
After your life's end, what just epilogue
God ordained to follow up your days. Is it such trouble
To satisfy the questions of a curious old fool?'

'In life, love gnawed my skin
To this white bone;
What love did then, love does now:
Gnaws me through.'

'What love,' asked Father Shawn, 'but too great love
Of flawed earth-flesh could cause this sorry pass?
Some damned condition you are in:
Thinking never to have left the world, you grieve
As though alive, shriveling in torment thus
To atone as shade for sin that lured blind man.'

'The day of doom
Is not yest come.
Until that time
A crock of dust is my dear hom.'

'Fond phantom,' cried shocked Father Shawn,
'Can there be such stubbornness--
A soul grown feverish, clutching its dead body-tree
Like a last storm-crossed leaf? Best get you gone
To judgment in a higher court of grace.
Repent, depart, before God's trump-crack splits the sky.'

From that pale mist
Ghost swore to priest:
'There sits no higher court
Than man's red heart.'

How long should the Spring Jam go on?
All week? All month? Until Summer?

Say the word.
No time frame is absurd.

A touch of spring has arrived
(though last night it was only 35).
Today the temperature is expected
to rise to 60. Midnight frost still questions,
suggesting spring is iffy. I do believe, however,
that spring is about to be sprung!
Let's all have sex while we're still young!

I just want to hold your hand
It aint the sex it was the pillow talk I miss the most
It aint the sex
It was the feeling of Hemingway in love
The companionship

But no doubt I am the most sexualy immature man here
Erection is a fine feeling
A weighty meaty feeling suspended on the end of a perpendicular prick
But the thirll that will getcha when you just want to dance

I just called the weatherman.
He said it was 59 degrees.
But I walked outside without a jacket
and beg to differ with him please.
I donno what his problem is
but he's got me down on my knees!
I'm freezing to death and begging for spring,
bundled up now in
several layers of clothing,
including these darn thick ugly leggings.

I can't close the jam 'til I can honestly write
of warmth I can feel both day and night
or until one of you tell me I'm outa my head
'cause spring's really here but to me it's winter instead.

This is absolutely the worst poem I have ever written.
Before I wrote it I wished I did and now I wish I didn't.

i do not think
the weather man knew
it would be colder
and yes it was by noon.
it was with morning
sun, brightly in the sky.
mother nature i think
is out of sink
with father time
as he winks
perhaps she'll catch up
once the clocks do their stuff.

love lots
and thanks for the smile.

We have been writing about Spring for 5 days.

I believe in Spring. I believed sooooo hard that today is finally a beautiful Spring day! I hope it's a beautiful Spring day where you are, too!

I'm going to close out this jam with a link to
The First Annual Spring Equinox Word Jam 2005

And one of my favorite poems about Spring by e. e. cummings.

Thank you all for singing spring songs. See you next time!

In Just by e. e. cummings

spring when the world is mud-
luscious the little
lame balloonman

whistles far and wee

and eddieandbill come
running from marbles and
piracies and it's
spring

when the world is puddle-wonderful

the queer
old balloonman whistles
far and wee
and bettyandisbel come dancing

from hop-scotch and jump-rope and

it's
spring
and
the

goat-footed

balloonMan whistles
far
and
wee
