Here is the essence of jam for me.

Un Coup de Des (“A throw of the dice”).

Tumbling words

I must be getting cranky,
I been thinking of jam
as GO

Not as poetry

Scrabble in the fourth dimension

Language, confusion and jam

Jam is
The hand is quicker than the eye
Poetry Jam

Ah now I see what you mean Doreen

I been thinking cybernetics

Language confusion and jam

I been thinking about intersecting streams of thought

There the feedback modulates consciousness

If this is poetry I will eat my chair cushion

But I will do my best to remember
to hit return when I get to the end of a line
unless the line of text takes a mind of its own and continues onto the next line.

thinking about the metaphors on that student essay

my metaphor for the internet is a highway

and I was addicted to the grind

a gypsy trucker flying dutchman

I always had to take it to the max

Rolling hard, rolling fast

the total beat feeling

euphoria of exhaustion

on the edge of unconsiousness

roll into a truck stop'

collapse on the wheel

this is my road

now

summer

a long hot summer

still thinking about the article that I have made so many false starts at writing

THe one for THe Summer Of Love Board on litkicks.

Sal Paradise and Esther Greenwood taking off into the wild NYC night

They save each other,

If that is copyright infringement to use another writers characters

SO SUE ME 8)

He is sleeping. She is sleeping.
Tomorrow she flies. One day soon
we will be large enough to see through
each other's eyes.

Summer comes in like a poem.
Hold it tight to your heart.
It is the hot mamma, a part
of your lay-down future, your bed-partner,
her swimming-pool eyes chlorinated, vaporized,
distinctive as a dawn and if you put your swimming
trunks on, you can dive into them with the spirit
of a lifeguard.

You know what's hard?
Yes, you do. But I'll tell you
anyway.

He is sleeping. She is sleeping.
Tomorrow she flies. Everyone leaves.
Sometimes they come back.
Cross your fingers to keep track
of the missing.

I kiss summer hello.
I kiss my babies goodbye.

It is a short nght

Today will be shorter than yesterday

Second day of summer and all ready I feel summer waning

Childhood seems so distant in summer

Just a distant flicker of a memory

Sitting in an unairconditioned class room

sweat dripping off the end of my nose

And the next day awakening to a luxuriant freedom

That is all childhood means to me anymore

Being free

Old age is a lot like childhood

I hear crickets

I see the lighning bugs under the weeping willow

Shit I might as well say it

Rosebud

Lord how I dread the fourth of july this year

It is larger than ever

I missed your post doreen

I can't sleep yet

I been thinking about greeting the dawn.

All I can do now is rest my eyes

I don't guess I will do much this summer

But it will still be perfect.

WD
your avatar
cracking me up all day.
DMG said Hi
I am nothing if not authentic
I been thinking about getting a pair of panty hose,
get into character
But
It is too hot-
for panty hose today.
Or is it?

Do women still wear those things?
Never mind.
I just remembered Joe Nameth wears them.

I have no idea what planet I have been living on the past fifty years
-one with no women.

is this a poem yet?

Final edit

Summer 1974 Ocean City Maryland
On the beach

A bench on the board walk facing the ocean.
Waiting for a dawn that is too far away.

:Later
sun beating down on a crowded beach, no shade.
Fall asleep on the beach and fry.
Later
The still fat white body of a man with life guards working on him.
Someone says, suicide

Camel Lights
two packs today
Oh lordy

Run out of your mind
and into mine
Maybe together
we can hide in the emptiness
and pretend
we're not alone
My muse will serenade you softly
so our demons don't hear
we can sing
the popular jingle to feel connected
to the mass consumer mess
dreaming of blue skies
and summer days
if we can redirect the black energy
to the heart of the sun.

Summer solstice,
Seattle-style....

I haven't seen much of the sun for weeks now.
Numb, dishwater-gray light, into the night,
and the same winter shiver.
I grab my stoic will and coat,
head off to work the lead-gray,
same as it ever was,
the great gift of rain.

The hours now start to retreat,
but I can't feel the summer wane,
if it never arrives.
