The Authoritarian State
The Authoritarian State
"Under fascism, everyone dreams of assassinating the Fuhrer, and marches in rank and file." -- Max Horkheimer
dreams... if we listen to History we'll notice that fascistas leaders were hard to die... family history says that my greatgrandparent (bisabuelo?)that died at 99, used to talk with il Duce in dreams or in a semi/sonambulic state late at night (almost shouting) during the seventies. It seems it was a little catastrophe for my grandmother's house. I used to spend some days and nights each month in my grandmother's house in those years but I don't remember that.
yo e, i hope you didnt have to read a whole book to find that line.

firsty,
it's from an essay called "The Authoritarian State" (the title of the thread) which is about twenty pages.
can be found in a really long book, but one worth reading -- i'm only part way thru it. (The Frankfurt School Reader)
i don't like quote sites because they usually don't have full citations and tend to take things out of context in a bad way. depends on the editor.
but i stand by my earlier comment; the art of writing concise but brilliant insights has been lost in the techno-bureaucratic idiocy promoted by the contemporary educational-corporate-gov't system.

I don't think 'Therefore, I am.' Therefore, I am.
