ST: "Now that we are in the shit we can't back out now."

Something about that word, "can't"... when I was in the Navy, I remember being told "can't means won't." Stuck with me.

We have the idea that we leave the terrorists will follow us (in their aircraft and ships, I assume) and torch our country to the ground. Without any decent level of border security, that could provoke a few to do some damage. But given the fact that as a nation, we are pretty well armed (the most personally armed nation in the world), that a few terrorist types would be fool-hearty to attempt to 'kill us all.' Hell, we're better at killing ourselves than anyone else. Given the amount of practice we've had, a chance to gun down some radicals would be kids play.

We "won't" leave because our country has become so ego-centric that we are unable to listen to anyone else in the world that doesn't follow our program. We don't take time to listen to what other countries have to suggest regarding politics. We are convinced that "god is on our side" and Jesus walks with our leaders. We are so masked by our own myths that we can no longer even tolerate anyone outside our borders saying anything against us.

Our country has become full of itself, we've been blinded by our own ego. Not a healthy thing. Akin to those certain folks we've all encountered thru our lives, the ones that are so full of their successes that anybody less than them are irrelevant... too small to be bothered with, much less listened to. We have become a victim to our own ego and that is exactly the underlying reason that this administration keeps repeating the line, "We've got to stay the course." To do otherwise would be a strike against our (the admin's) ego, pumped out of proportion. Humility be damned! Bush and Co. have no humility about anything they have done to this country or the rest of the world. But karma is infallible. Nature will take its course. It always has and always will.

What you say is true I think
We don't so much have a president
We have a high priest.

This cheered me up some
