CCC tents "acampe" in Plaza San Martín

Post by Arcadia » July 26th, 2007, 2:38 pm

more than a week since people from the CCC (Corriente Clasista Combativa), piquetero-group no peronista is doing an acampe in Plaza San Martín here. Lots of families in precarious tents living in the plaza in front of the sede of the Governation... they only got stupid answers and quejas from the downtown vecinos... I knew and worked with people of the CCC years before, I didn´t like at all their methods but I know they are the only ones with some kind of freedom to lead a protesta when it´s necessary. Even though I live a block from the actual protesta and I agree with it and consider it totally valid I can´t avoid:
. to feel it somehow sad, lonely and a bit cruel and violent
. to inner protest each morning when I have to walk two blocks to reach the bus that don´t pass anymore at the corner because the streets are closed .
. to try not to breath the air or the now plaza-big bathroom (oh, my burguese-olfat!!! ...and I wanted to be a mix of Mother Theresa, Che Guevara, Buda and Kübler-Ross when I was twenty...!!!!)

well, the first part sounds good, I expected that some days ago (I know it must not be an easy thing in the actual non-massive movilization period: all is tremendous partial)... the second part is somehow weird... the CCC and the local catholic church as a mediator with the actual government...

I tried translating but not much luck. Who is protesting and why?

This is the babelfish translation from the second article.
The malaise of the neighbors by encamps turns ten days today
n n the seat San Martín is invaded by rust and fecal matter. They demand one improves urgent. n n the provincial government obtained an agreement with 120 families who already retired
I like the word malaise. As in Malaise dans la culture

"Who is protesting and why?"

almost everyone because everything but that´s not the point (and yeah...it seems the local newspaper is more concerned about the downtown neighbors than the people protesting in the plaza...). The people in the plaza are from different social movements but mostly from the CCC. They prostest in front of the Santa Fe gobieno sede in first place for the need of jobs and houses, also for monetary help for their activities.

today´s La Capital´s note about it (the highlights are mine)

No tan estancados.

this morning there was more people than the habitual during these days manifesting in the plaza and lots of police walking the side streets, but it seems both sides? are optimistic...

I can hardly read anymore
It has been so long since I read Civilization and its Discontents
I like the title in french better which is Malaise dans la culture

So long since I read The Wretched of The Earth
For some reason I have been thinking of Franz Fanon a lot this past week. They say he was a major influence on Che Guevara. But that Che read a bad translation of him.

This past week was the fortieth anniversery of the Detroit Riots. Quite a protest that.

s-t: I really prefer Pedro Picapiedras as your avatar... at least he made me laugh when I was a kid. He was somehow a proto-Homero Simpsons.

changing the subject, the acampe continues. As is really cold here.

My Spanish is quite bad, but I think I understand somewhat what's going on: for 15 days there has been a protest (in the winter, right?) for more homes and jobs? I couldn't really find anything on the Corriente Clasista Combativa (Current Class-Conscious Combative?), is it a more militant political group? Nor could I grasp the position of the Church - is it opposed to the protest or split?

Let's hope this doesn't end up like the Detroit riots; forty years later and our city is still recovering. The buildings are still burnt out, the bullet holes remain, and the concrete is still crushed where the tanks once tread.

Lace Riot, Red Decay

Malaise dans la culture - I like that too. I'll have to read it.

the acampe finished yesterday afternoon when it started a freezing rain, it would be terrible to spend a night outdoors last night. It seems there was a "minimun acuerdo" with the government with the church mediation... minimun acuerdo: social help in the form of clothes, food and gas and the compromise to talk about the possible possession of the lands the people are acupando.

Well, Michael you say your spanish is bad... I understand spanish but my vision is not also clear at the moment. :

. the santa fe government was specially cruel with this acampe
. the discourse and attitude of most of the people of Rosario towards injustice and other´s needs is shifting to an indiferent-intolerant-paranoic point in the last years
. there is a feeling that there is nothing to do and if you do something at the end it will be (even though you don´t want it) in the system´s benefit (some kind of fatalist-conspirative paralisis).
.if you don´t belong to the mafia-system of social help that the peronismo installed here since more than fifty years (sorry, Eva...)you are kind of alien and they won´t avoid each oportunity to remind you of that... one thing I know about the people that belong to the Corriente (there are a branch of Pueblos Originarios members also) is that they are not for the plain social help, with the gobierno "planes" they are generating a proyect in which the people build their own houses, training them in a cooperative way to do it. One of the proyect is half way in one of the Toba neighborhoods near the school I work. It´s really interesting.
. the CCC is connected with the PCR (Communist Revolucionary Party) with maoist orientations. That´s my personal limit. I never felt in the mood to be under a red flag with the face of Mao... even though I read "about the contradiction" and I consider it interesting. I have dear friends in the party but the omni present rough militant thing is also too much for me... and at some point you are in or out, so here I am watching the wheels again in a political-political sense for now...

(thanks for reading, to write this in English is maybe my way to deal with alucinations as I read somewhere, who knows...!)
