Must see Video: Arab-American Psychologist from L.A.
As received today... it's quite amazing, imho...
"Here is a powerful and amazing statement on Al Jazeera television.
The woman is Wafa Sultan, an Arab-American psychologist from Los Angeles . I would suggest watching it ASAP because I don't know how long the link will be active.
This film clip should be shown around the world repeatedly!!!"

She said:
"We have not seen a single jew protest by killing people."
I have read some interesting things about that MEMRI.ORG site Cecil. It is very popular with the right wingers and that woman Wafa Sultan does not always get her facts right. But she makes good points about women. I am starting to see it all as a clash of the sexes myself. A battle for the hearts and minds of women.
I remember that guy Goldstein maybe she forgot about him.

1994: Jewish settler kills 30 at holy site
A Jewish settler has killed up to 30 Palestinians at a mosque in Hebron after opening fire as people gathered for Friday morning prayers.
US-born doctor Baruch Goldstein, 38, burst into the mosque in the Machpela Cave and fired up to 100 bullets at worshippers, according to state TV reports

Devar Torah for Shabbat ZakhorAmaleq becomes for the Jewish tradition a symbol of evil forces that want to destroy us as a people, and we are obligated to destroy them first. King Saul failed to utterly destroy Amaleq as he had been commanded and as a consequence lost his kingship and was slain by an Amaleqite. Megilat Esther in chapter 9 brings to a conclusion the events of the story with permission for the Jews to defend themselves. They decimate Haman and his tribe, with a truly frightful body count.
Haman, Hitler, and most alarmingly even the Palestinians are lumped together as descendants of Amaleq. For those Jews who want to read the text in this way, sparing Amaleq at the expense of Israel defies the will of God. It may even be seen as a positive commandment to commit genocide. “Remember Amaleq” starts to sound like “Remember the Alamo” — a justification for going to war. Lest we think that this interpretation is historical and not contemporary, we have only to recall Baruch Goldstein, an American-born Israeli doctor who became a fundamentalist. On the 14th day of Adar 1994, he killed 29 innocents Muslims at morning prayer in the Cave of the Patriarchs in Hebron. He was then beaten to death by survivors and a riot broke out in which 26 Palestinians and 2 Israelis were killed. Baruch Goldstein has become a hero among some of Israel's right-wing extremists. They set up a tombstone for him that reads, “Here lies the saint, Dr. Baruch Kappel Goldstein, blessed be the memory of the righteous and holy man, may the Lord avenge his blood, who devoted his soul to the Jews — He was killed as a martyr of God on Purim.”

three things:
. it suddenly makes me want to listen to The Clash
. I liked her words about "you can believe in stones...etc"
. I doubt a little in the "only the muslims" thing. It sounded somehow as an absolute proposition more than a fact...
(in fact, four)
. my god... the speed-talking in that man... I hardly could read the english sub-titles!

interesting pastes, truck. 1994... thirteen yrs ago. i wonder how many people are aware of that incident (other than palestinians and israelis). she either was unaware or casually dismissed it (which may have been the smart thing to do given the context of her talk to al jareeza).
other than that are you aware of any buddhist repercussions to the taliban blowing up the statues? or any jewish incidents like blowing up restaurants in germany?
i must say i do agree with the overall gist of her comments - the muslim fundamentalist led attacks against their perceived enemies (which oddly includes other muslim sects) is a somewhat primitive view of what the majority of the world embraces as 'modern.'
truck you say this vid has been around since 2/06. i don't doubt you but am curious about your reaction when you first saw it.
arcadia... did you listen to the clash yet? (that made me smile...) what's the name of their song about the 'casbah'? been too long since i heard that.

LOS ANGELES, March 10 — Three weeks ago, Dr. Wafa Sultan was a largely unknown Syrian-American psychiatrist living outside Los Angeles, nursing a deep anger and despair about her fellow Muslims.
Today, thanks to an unusually blunt and provocative interview on Al Jazeera television on Feb. 21, she is an international sensation, hailed as a fresh voice of reason by some, and by others as a heretic and infidel who deserves to die
That MEMRI site that posted the video is worth checking out too it is a neo con israeli website. imho
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Middle_Eas ... _InstituteCriticism
MEMRI has been criticized primarily for its choice of the content it selects for translation. Brian Whitaker, the Middle East editor for the UK Guardian newspaper, has criticized MEMRI for having a pro-Israel bias and agenda, and not being explicit about this on its website. He has written, "My problem with Memri is that it poses as a research institute when it's basically a propaganda operation",[3] that material selected by MEMRI for translation, "further the political agenda of Israel, and ",[7] and that, "MEMRI's website does not mention you [Carmon] or your work for Israeli intelligence. Nor does it mention MEMRI's co-founder, Meyrav Wurmser, and her extreme brand of Zionism.... Given your political background, its legitimate to ask whether MEMRI is a trustworthy vehicle"[3]
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wafa_SultanOn February 21, 2006, she took part in Al Jazeera's weekly 90-minute discussion program The Opposite Direction. She spoke from Los Angeles, arguing with host Faisal al-Qassem and with Dr. Ibrahim Al-Khouli about Samuel P. Huntington's Clash of Civilizations theory. A six minute composite video of her remarks was subtitled and widely circulated by MEMRI on weblogs and through e-mail. In this video (easily available on Google Video[1] and YouTube[2]) she is scolding Muslims for treating non-Muslims differently and for not recognizing the accomplishments of non-Muslim society, while using its wealth and technology.
The New York Times estimated that the video of her appearance was viewed at least one million times as it spread via weblogs and email.[2]
