Produce, Consume & Obey
Produce, Consume & Obey
It's all one big company town now.
Produce, consume and obey. That is the New World Order.
As long as we all stick to that template, everything is fine,
but step outside of it, and the whole thing starts to break down.
Are we propping up the economy like good little consumer units?

Middle path... sounds about right.
Ahh, I've been listening to a lot of lefty talk radio again. Heard some guy repeating that phrase..."produce, consume and obey". (Or else). He claims the "corporocracy" demands us to be compliant, hardworking consumer units and mercenaries in global capitalist expansionism, touted through the corporate media machine variously as "fighting terrorism", or "preserving our freedom, or way of life", and the like. Very "1984" in that sense.
"The disappearing middle class" also gets a lot of air time on lefty radio these days, described as a natural casualty of runaway global corporatism, and its insatiable hunger for cheaper resources and greater profits. But is it really in the corporocracy's interest if the middle class goes away? Who's going to buy all those widgets? Is it all a "house of cards" teetering?
Here's a depressing article from a few years back:
http://www.counterpunch.org/sullivan02202004.html
The US government has been directly involved in many assassination attempts on foreign heads of state, and in overthrowing democratically-elected governments when the economic elite's capitalist interests were deemed threatened. You know, there are definite reasons why the US is hated in the world, and it's not because "they hate our freedom". (Thanks, FOX, for that penetrating bit of analysis).
Anyway, as Cecil would say...
[Enough]..

mnaz: I read the article and it almost sounds strange in english!
I agree with most of what it´s said, but if you only stay in that atmosphere is also a bit paralizing. I also read a new article in that site regarding Chavez/Correa/Latinamerica and your next elections, very interesting!. Thanks!!!!!

corporocracy... that is a $25. word, isn't it? another word for fascism is pretty close. but either word implies the people's need to comply with the 2% that controls all else.
who controls the 2% one may ask... 2% of that 2 percentile. what is it that 'they' wold like to control but have no control of..? the instablility of 98% to continue following the path... it just can't be done, no matter the difficultly... humanity eventually rebels... fuck it! fuck them! fuck it all! the masses revolt and the system collapses (for a while... always for a while).
delightful...

Cecil, are you producing, consuming and obeying like an acceptable current unit of modern global commerce? If not, then it might be risky for me to be seen with you on this board. They seem to be closing in on it.
And yes. At this point it seems humanity eventually rebels, if and when the comfort level gets too low. Except I can't imagine when that is or what it's going to take. We've all become such trusting, devoted souls. Why wouldn't 98 or 99 percent of us want to sacrifice our lives to make 1 or 2 percent of us even more insanely rich and isolated? Seems reasonable enough.

O yeah, mnaz... i'm 'PCO' all the way! Even retired, I'm a producing, consuming and ... wait! this word, obey??? Now, i just can't quite agree that I'm good at obeying.
"We've all become such trusting, devoted souls"
As long as our needs and many of our wants are met, the collective 'we' will bend and twist truths to fit the current facts, i.e. lie to ourselves that everything is good (enough) to put up with it all. An exception is the majority that is in great debt.. so much that putting up with damn near anything is the only correct thing to do.

The consume part has been made clear enough. The produce (not lettuce) part comes and goes with the weather. The obey is a takeover attempt. Islam means "obey" also, I think I remember reading. Odd that Bush-Cheney-Halliburton would have us so eager to obey to go fight imagined forces of another "hostile obey". Obey obey obey! Go shopping! Now!
