Kind of an understatement.

For some reason it reminds me of the guy who was trying to kill Steve Martin in THe Jerk. He appologized to him later saying he was trying to quit smoking at the time and his wife had just left him.

I wish I had your faith Doreen. I am pretty sure they know exactly what meds he was not taking. And if he was committed as a juvenile I thought those records were sealed.

I wonder how come it always seems to be men who go on these murderous rampages. I am so dumb to wonder something like that I suppose.
I guess women just don't have the balls for it.

So sad.
Such a tragedy
Thinking about a conversation I had with eyelidness about the violent voices within us.

I can't remember the poet, something about looking within and seeing the worst you see in others in your self

"you can't be any better than the worst you recognize" jitterbug.

The article I quoted stated that he was hospitalized after high school. That means he was an adult.

I don't know why you assume the media is trying to hide something. When stuff like this happens, they tell you every little detail about everything and make show after show after show about it. They're in the viewership business after all. And each of the news sources wants to be the first to tell whatever. So yeah, I have faith that we'll not only learn about the medications he was on that he wasn't taking, but I suspect we'll learn about what he ate for breakfast the day of the murders, what type of toothpaste he preferred and other important intimate details about his entire life since the moment he was born. ;)

I am not following that closely.

From what I have read it seems that they know right now what meds he was supposed to be on.

Yes, I also believe in truth justice and the american way.

I can hardly wait for the congressional inquiry into it. It will much more entertaining than a boring old impeachement hearing into the crimes of George W Bush & Dick Cheney.

I am sorry for all the families involved.
I don't want to joke about it.
I hate my cynicism
sorry

Not entirely. I graduated from high school when I was 17, and I have a friend who graduated when he was 16. So it could be possible that he was still a juvenile after high school.

Do you know the Boomtown Rats' song 'Don't Like Mondays' from 1979?

This is about Brenda Spencer, a 16-year-old San Diego high school student who lived across from an elementary school. On Monday, January 29, 1979, she opened fire on the school with a rifle, killing 2 adults (including the principal) and injuring 9 kids before going back to her home. Police surrounded her home and waited for 7 hours until she gave herself up. In that time, she spoke with a reporter on the phone. When asked why she did it, she replied, "I just started shooting, that's it. I just did it for the fun of it. I just don't like Mondays. I just did it because it's a way to cheer the day up. Nobody likes Mondays."

Indeed, it's a tragedy for sure....becoming more and more commonplace.
A nut off his meds, a terrorist act, innocents killed.
I really don't know what to feel about it.....I mean okay well, it's like i guess we have to accept that this is what people are going to be doing now......because it's happening so much now, who's shocked?

It makes me start thinking that i'm going to have to buy a gun to protect myself, a thought I detest, but if someone in that auditorium had had some sort of defense tool maybe he could have been stopped as soon as he started. I mean this guy had the ability to reload and keep on killing!

My heart just aches for the families of the victims.
That this kind of weakness has such power over us, so as to take our lives from us, it doesn't make sense. There's no excuse for it.
Oh wait, the meds.....
