Ottoman turks were muslims, and thus sharia was in effect. Non non sequitur. That's not to say that muslims all supported the genocide. It's still a matter of debate whether it was due to turkish nationalism, or elements of jihad as well: yet the non-muslims lived under "dhimmitude" or whatever barbaric name they give for non-muslims trapped in muslim countries.
