Friend --
You've probably heard about the latest dust-up in the Democratic race.
A few days ago, Barack spoke about the frustrations that working people in this country are feeling and said what we all know is true: that many people are bitter and angry because they believe their government isn't listening to them.
You and I both know that the hope of changing that reality is what drives the unprecedented support for this campaign from ordinary people in every part of the country.
But our opponents have been spinning the media and peddling fake outrage around the clock. John McCain's campaign, which will continue the George Bush economic policies that have devastated the middle class, called Barack out of touch and elitist. And Hillary Clinton, who is the candidate who said lobbyists represent real people, didn't just echo the Republican candidate's talking points: she actually used the very same words to pile on with more attacks.
These comments show just how out of touch Senator McCain and Senator Clinton are with the reality of what's happening in this election.
We've built the broadest campaign of ordinary people in the history of presidential politics -- and more people across this country have voted for Barack Obama than either one of them.
And we've done it the right way: our campaign is funded by everyday people giving $5 or more. That's distinctly different from Senator McCain and Senator Clinton, who both rely on money from Washington lobbyists and special interest PACs.
There's nothing elitist about a movement of more than a million people standing up for a different kind of politics.
If you're fed up with these kinds of tired attacks, you can do something about it right now. We're setting a goal of 1.5 million people giving to this campaign by May 6th.
Right now, one of those million people who have already given to our campaign is waiting to match your first donation. No matter what amount you choose to give, our system will match you with a supporter who has promised to match someone's first donation today.
You can see for yourself exactly what kind of movement this is. When you make your donation, you'll see the name and town of the person just like you who matched your gift. You'll also see a note from them with their story and why they gave, if they chose to write one.
You'll double the impact of your donation if you make a matching gift right now. Will you help fight back now?
https://donate.barackobama.com/match
Barack Obama's own life and story are reflected in the character of this grassroots campaign. He was raised by a single mother with help from his grandparents. He has a family he loves, not long ago finished paying off his student loans, and he's doing what he can to help change this country.
That's what he's done for his entire career. After graduating, he became a community organizer, working with people in Chicago who -- like many people across the country right now -- felt left behind by their leaders.
When you make a matching donation, you'll be paired with someone with that same sense that it's time for a government that is responsible to the people for a change.
Someone is waiting to hear your story, and to share theirs with you. If you can support the campaign at this crucial moment, you'll be able to share your story about why you're committed to this campaign.
And because this is a matching donation, your gift of $25 will be doubled by another supporter. You'll have twice the impact and help reach our unprecedented 1.5 million-person goal. Make a matching donation now and be a part of history:
https://donate.barackobama.com/match
The attacks from the Clinton campaign -- on Barack Obama himself, and on supporters like you -- can be expected to increase as her chances of winning dwindle further.
A few weeks ago, one of her top aides tried to diminish our success by referring to the places we've won as "boutique" states and to our supporters as the "latte-sipping crowd."
That means 30 states and territories -- twice as many as Senator Clinton has won -- qualify as "boutique." And the nearly 15 million people who have voted for us (again, more than Senator Clinton) must drink a lot of latte.
It's clear that Senator Clinton will continue to say or do anything as her campaign gets more and more negative.
But 1.5 million donors will be an astonishing and undeniable signal that it isn't the elites fueling this movement -- it's the American people.
That starts with you.
Thank you,
David

He's right about the bitterness and frustration!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He is totally in touch with what is going on for most folks.
For Chrissakes, who is out of touch here?
Sure maybe he could have said anger instead of bitterness, but it's Hillary and McCain who don't get it.....good grief.....
It's funny how Hillary is trying to project her own shortcomings on Barack.
She underestimates the intelligence of Americans in doing so. Thats why her shit always backfires, all over her pantsuits.

Say hello President McCain.
I bet e-dog aint tweakening
he's just hurtin.
Who would have ever thought that Bush would be re-elected in 2004?
Yeah I could see McCain winning it.
I am putting my energy behind Obama. I am hoping audaciously, but even so I would vote for hillary if she won. Anybody but McCain.
I can't understand people who are for Obama or Hillary who say that they would vote for McCain if their candidate loses.

I was truly saddened at Pennsylvania's idiot voters.
They are reporting that Hillary got the gun owner voters, racists, and republicans who want her to get the nomination because unlike everyone is "saying" in the media, McCain would easily beat Clinton. I mean she must be working with the republicans now, to get her way, because that last ad of hers was totally fearmongering and race mongering, (which is what the Clinton's are really up to). Her judgement is really really bad, and it's showing if you ask me. But hey, i'm smart so, what do I know?
You know, I keep going back to that article that Mtymd posted about the 545...and really if someone new is not going to have a chance at being the president then what is the point of even voting?
It's gotta be someone new, someone out of this 545 machine that has been going and going and going like that fucking battery, battering us all.
I can only hope that if the nominee is Hilary, that Nader steps in because I would vote for him. But I just can't vote for Hillary....really it would be a lie in my heart....I mean, why vote for an oldtimer of the 545? We must have someone new, or who cares?
Again, like Bill Maher said, "evil can kill alot of people, but stupidity can kill more"

You know hester I would have a lot more respect for Obama if he wrote a book about the faith of his mother.
Nothing to do with this string.
Speaking of stupidity
Obama making his own problems,
He gives a speech in San Francisco about guns and gods and don't think about whether it will play in peoria
You worry me sometimes hester
you sound like a true believer sometimes
Yeah you want some body pure.
This ain't Kansas
nobody is pure.
Don't mind my jew boy paranoia

Hey Still! How are ya kid?
And just to clarify, it's not that I want someone pure, I want someone NEW who is not part of this old tired corrupt machine that keeps the "unpeople", (meaning all of us) hogtied under their greed and disassociation with reality!
Obama could be anyone, he's NEW, we need a whole new bunch of folks to come into Washington, and those that are there and have overstayed their welcome to the point of corruption need to be fired. Sure, bring in ol Trump to fire em, that'd be neat.
And after they are fired, they can go and experience what it's like to apply for unemployment! They can start tasting the very things they've dished out.
Meanwhile, new blood will bring change, period.
How you been ST?
I'm still looking for work, wondering why in the hell folks aren't chomping at the bit to hire me!

That last thing he wrote, True Believer was it? Sounds like a good read...he sounds like an interesting dude, thanks for the link...
You okay? you think i'm fanatical about Obama? I think I'm kinda fanatical about wanting someone new....
If anything I'm disappointed, because I had expectations, something i'm trying to work on. I have this expectation flaw.
Dammit.
Heh.

I known you a long time Hester, well only about seven years, but those are internet years which seem so much longer.
I am okay hester, well as good as can be expected considering my age and life style.
No I don't think you are a fanatic, but sometimes I want to say "Welcome to America" What were the good old days?
Don't sweat the jobs hester, just a number game, so many applications so many interviews and then you will get job offers. I hate looking for jobs, what I usually do is
do one at a time
wait to hear than do the next one
and so on till I got a offer
I think it is better to blast out as many resumes and interviews as you can
but you probably knew that.
I read an interesting article about Men who explain things to women, I hope that is not how I sound.
I like this bit from it a lot, I thought it might cheer you up
I can imagine worse things than decadent democracy.

That is the only bit I liked from that article Cecil posted, the rest of it was silly if you ask me. Vote out the supreme court justices? What was that guy smoking?(What he leaves out is that we are responsible for believing them and being distracted by those meaningless issues where we, the voters, try and control someone elses life thru our 'elected officials'. Like magicians one hand distracts while the other does the 'trick', and we let it go unnoticed. The right is distracted by thinking Jesus would be ok with hunger or torture but wouldn't approve of abortion or gay marriage. The left is distracted by a president that is an easy target. Both are equally guilty, as am I. Nothing changes until we take back responsibility.)

I don't if it a Jew thing or not hester, my pessimism I mean. The holocaust is not something that happened a long time ago for me. I was born before world war two, that all happened during my lifetime. I used to love history. The Weimar republic much on my mind these days. Like I said to edogA Freudian would claim to know what they have and I lack, but intelligence is not situated in the crotch -- even if you can write one of Virginia Woolf's long mellifluous musical sentences about the subtle subjugation of women in the snow with your willie.

The difference between now and the good old days is TV. In the good old days a politicians had one stump speech they travelled around giving the same old speech. Now we got to have content between the commercials so we call it News and cover important stuff like lapel pins. But that was another post about the media.
I don't know if Weimar relates to our situation or not. But the right and left were so busy bashing each other that the goverment was brought down and we all know what happened next. I don't suppose it could happen here.
Another old boring book
It Can't Happen Here
My brother in law thinks Obama is a Muslim. He is white and blue collar, god must have loved him cause he made so many like him.
Obama seems a little hoity toity to me Hester. Seems like he should be smart enough to know that when he gives a speech to a San Fransisco crowd he is preaching to the choir. What the hell was he thinking, that he was giving an anthropology lecture?
Even if McCain wins I am pretty sure the demos will sweep both houses of congress and be able to over ride any vetoes or even impeach. But it would be better to have a democrat prez too. So much needs to be undone, so many corrupt bureaucrats to remove.
What was joel's old tag line about expectations and disapointments?
I expect to live forever hester.
I hope I am not disappointed.
