Well, ya can't always vote fer the Greeeeen Party can ye? So you pick either "D" or "R", and in 2006 you knew you couldn't vote for "R" (even many people who normally vote for "R" knew that), so what did that leave? "D", of course. But if the "D"s ignore the call and work with the "R"s ruinous agenda, what then? I didn't invent this worthless 2-party charade-- it pretty much invents its own truth as it goes. Just follow the mega-bucks.

Yeah... McCain and Hagee in '08.

Forget 100 years of Abu Ghraib and roadside carnage. Think bigger! The U.N. is the Great Whore! Thank gawd them liberal wussies didn't get rid of our nukes! The big one is coming!

You don't want to vote, you want power.

Voters at least used to have some influence, if not outright power. Or so it seemed. Or not.

II don't know if I have finally succumbed to cynicism. The system is what it is, decadent. We, the voters of the United States re-elected this administration in 2004. In 2006 the democrats took both houses by slim majorities. Do think Pelosi could pull the votes for impeachment out of her rectum. She can count. I guess it would have been a nice gesture. In this election I think the dems will sweep both houses of congress with enough votes to end the war. Even if McCain wins, they will have enough votes to over ride any veto, to vote for cloture to shut off the republicans and yellow dog democrats.

That is my hope

Meanwhile people will keep dying in this war and Bush will never be called to account for his crimes.

What can we do about that?

It seems to me that the Weimar republic was not so bad after all.

yup i agree
if ya wanna get political power ya need solidarity
an we got th potential for power now

saw senatoor joe biden this am of old imus's showtime slot,
actually coffee joe is in th redneck riviera watching over his expectant wife
an th lady, mika, is running th show
i watch for a few,
an joe gets on an talks about mccain's latest outburst
like, "i am a veteran and you are not, so how dare you tell me i don't understand veterans!" as mc cain was absent at a fundraiser while the senate passed a veterans bill

calling it an "ad hominum" argument,
which is a fallacy, not based upon logic, reason, or anything but base emotion

so i think that mccains obvious atachment to lobbyshts some of very international rep
dealing with deep pockets

it will be exposed
they will run an aggressive campaign against tis
and the obvious dissaffection of the reactionary apostolic right
etc

and yet
when i left th rally
15,000 strong
a opep rally,
i realised that the outside world is big
an i will believe it when i see it

yet i saw th man
\confidant, humble, and th spectrum of peoples there th cheer him

an i thinks that th oderate wing of th dems will truck withh progressives
an cindy will get her gripes after the next year
when the whole thimg is clarified in all it's ugly brazen scenario
as they are supoenaed and will not be able to say no

edaw g
is a cynic

i hope yer wraownggg

gypsy - Two words: Im - peach. Should never have been taken off the table I.M.O. -- the Crimes were too serious. In '07, start investigating, start drafting the articles. Do it. (They didn't). Perhaps they were more politically savvy than me, and had a grander political strategy, I don't know. Meanwhile, the beat goes on.

I'd like to think so. We'll see.

I know, I know... I'm being unreasonable again, aren't I?

Impeachment for pissing on the U.N., starting useless, unnecessary, illegal, security-weakening wars and unaccountable military occupations based on lies, trashing the Constitution and Democratic process and robbing the treasury blind???... What was I thinking? Well, maybe that pissing on the U.N. part wasn't so bad, but still....

Power schmower.
What we are lacking is balance.
Bush and his ites took the balance beam and whacked it up side of the head so as to make their dicks feel bigger. Or feel anything......
:D
WE NEED OUR BALANCE BACK! It's the closest we can ever come to perfection......if indeed there is even such a word anymore.......

As if this imbalance started with Bush.

Declaring War
The United States has not formally declared war since World War II. Under Article I, Section 8 of the U.S. Constitution, Congress has sole power "to declare war [and] grant letters of marque and reprisal." But Article II, Section 2 provides that "The president shall be Commander-in-Chief of the Army and Navy of the United States." While it's clear that the Framers intended for Congress alone to declare war, presidents don't always check with Congress before acting. After President Harry Truman bypassed Congress to go to war in Korea, presidents have paid almost no attention to the constitutional requirements.
What war powers does the president have?

If it would have been a comfort to you to leave impeachment on the table I wish she had mark. Not that it would have made any difference. Not a snow balls chance in antartica would it have of getting a two thirds majority.

I need all the comfort I can find these days.

This is the most corrupt incompetent and secretive admistration this country has ever had. And I don't know what I can do about it except wait it out. All the hoopla going on about the election has any body noticed how the investigations into the corruption and incompetence have started? The white house visitor's log is being released because of it, also the millions of mysteriously disapeared emails, does anything really disapear in cyber space? 2009 is going to be a very interesting year politicaly.

I am pretty sure Bush and Cheney will have some kind of immunity when they leave office. But I hope I am wrong about that.

I get this. I'm over it, though I'm not quite over it. Hoping for the 2009 shift in consciousness. Still though, votes or not, I wanted hearings to be held and a less passive stance to be taken because, well, because we really have no choice at this point. No, it didn't start with George W. Bush, but he kind of took it to the next level, so brazenly hoisted so many red flags for us, right out there in plain view!! Thanks George!!

Hoping for the 2009 shift in consciousness.
Jesus h Christ I hope not
2009 is too late
got to happen before November.

The hearings have started, now we will see how many sound bytes they get among the hoopla about lapel pins or what not.

The secrete service white house visitor logs have finally been released. THe ones the white house has been stone walling on claiming executive priviledge or national security something like that. These are the logs used against Clinton in the impeachment hearings.

Abramhoff the super lobbyist has resurfaced Remember him the guy Rove never met and george only shook his hand in some photo opp, once or twice.

Don't mind me mnaz I got a scholarship to optimists school.

I guess I am superstitious or something marc
I just mean Obama got to get elected first.
But I have to admit I am imagining what his cabinet will be

I like this woman for his cabinet for secretary of something.
The Coming Collapse of The Middle Class She has been a Harvard Law Professor since 1995. I wonder if Obama was one of her students. I can only hope so

the link is courtesey of firsty

I am so sick of Yale-ies, like sylvia plath said they are so stoopid.
