"He don't want to be a Christian Soldier anymore."BJS
I am not much for theology. I know what is at stake. We just agree to disagree on what ever it is we are talking about. My faith is pretty heretical. What is the worst that could happen to me? You know when I was growing up not one adult in my family promised me heaven or hell. No eternal rewards for being good or eternal punishments for being a wild child. I have given my Christian Testimony here on studio eight. I will pull it all together one day and post it for you.
But for now I will have to resort to Rock and Roll

That is all that keeps me going. My religion in a nut shell.
you know I have a spotty education
Somebody got to talk theology with ya. It bores me, what I want to talk about is how many squarks can stand on the head of a barstool
tjhis is time sensitive mark, I even tried to change my sock puppet to get your attention. My last good pair of panty hose got a run in it. I hate when that happens. Worse then red blood stains on white panties. What about dear Mary? Jung's book An Answer to Job, he sees THe Christ Jesus as the (lumina, numina?) the feminine face of that mighty smighty god of the Hebrew Children.
Been stunned by two new joys Merton and Santayana.

marriage should have nothing to do with government anyway.
if it's part of government, it should be blind to any religious ideas.
when did marriages start hitting the justice of the peace anyway? what is this bullshit? when did we start letting people get married outside of any church? thats the problem. anyone married by anything other than some religious clergyperson should have the whole thing annulled immediately. marriage is a sacrament to christians. not a government tool. what the fuck? can i get a government baptism? a government first communion? a government bar mitzvah? this is all a bunch of crap.
religion nuts want their cake and they want to eat it and they want to step on the toes of anyone who tries to eat their cake.
religion is for bigots.
God saves. religion kills.

Thanks firsty now I think I got a copy on it. Don’t want to start spewing quotes all over this; there is probably a generation between us. I think it was on of ZW about ‘seeing the world through lenses ground in the past’ There is a war on. My issue number one, gay marriage is on the list too. I think the issue is mute. The shinnola done hit the fan. The true believers taking over the judicial system. This all fruits of our decadent Electoral College system.
Chivalry, so medieval
11th or 12th century France
Amore
First time “the zeal of the organs for each other”
Became a factor in marriage
Before that it was just a business deal
I think sex is ludicrous
There it is
Got dam ball slap
I hate when I hear the sound
It takes everything I can do to keep from laughing

I wrote the following in response to a letter to the editor in the local newspaper:
To the Editor:
The letter in the ‘Reader’s Viewpoint’ in the Wednesday, December 21st edition of The Romeo Observer caused me some concern, revolving around two points in the author’s argument. Firstly, it was stated that our Founding Fathers used the Bible as their standard for morality and government, and therefore they were Christian. Secondly, that ‘Homosexuality would have been purged’, and presumably it should be purged.
In fear of being overly redundant, I would like to begin by quoting Thomas Jefferson, who I believe qualifies as a Founding Father:
‘I contemplate with solemn reverence that act of the whole American people which declared that their legislature should “make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof”, thus building a wall of separation between church and state.’ (i)
The Founding Fathers were not Christian. They were deists, not theists. Thomas Jefferson strongly opposed Christianity; indeed, he referred to the Bible as a ‘dunghill’ . James Adams stated that ‘The doctrine of the divinity of Jesus is made a convenient cover for absurdity.’(iii) James Adams also signed the Treaty of Tripoli, which in article eleven declares that ‘The government of the United States is not in any sense founded on the Christian religion.’ (iv) We could add to this list Thomas Paine(v) and Benjamin Franklin(vi) , both who opposed religion in general. James Madison? “Religion and government will both exist in greater purity; the less they are mixed together.” (vii)
James Madison also made this following comment: ‘What influence in fact have Christian ecclesiastical establishments had on civil society? In many instances they have been upholding the thrones of political tyranny…A just government, instituted to secure and perpetuate liberty, does not need the clergy.’ (viii)
The quote “We have staked the future of all our political institutions upon the capacity of mankind for self-government; upon the capacity of each and all of us to govern ourselves, to control ourselves, to sustain ourselves according to the Ten Commandments ”, was never said by James Madison. It was created by the Texas-based Religious Right propagandist David Barton, who admitted to creating it in 1994, along with twelve other “Founding Father” quotes.
If the Founding Fathers' had used the Old Testament to create laws, surely eating pork, or other unclean animals, would be illegal. So would be certain haircuts (Leviticus 19:27), tattoos (Leviticus 19:28 ) and wearing clothing woven of two different materials (Leviticus 19:19). However, only homosexuality seems to be the only issue condemned out of all of these. Can we choose which sins are valid, and which are not?
I am a practicing Christian. However, I recognize the importance of historical facts, and know the role of the government, and the power it has. Homosexuality does not violate other citizens’ rights to life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness. Where is there a legal reason why two human beings of the same gender can not be together, in marriage or otherwise? There is none.
.
Sincerely,

The world would be a better place if people picked up a history book once in while.
It really pisses me off when people claim that the United States was founded on Christianity, etc. Yeah, and Jesus was white. And don't even get me started on gay marriage.

Good stuff, bohonato. (I hope they print(ed) this).
I can't really relate to much of Christian doctrine, as it has come to be (and the "scars" of my fundamentalist upbringing will always remain, to some extent). But I suppose there is a place for Christian faith, as an individual concern, as a "conversation" with the divine, with God, as opposed to God, Inc.-- a multi-zillion-dollar, my-God-is-bigger-than-yours, juggernaut of institutionalized, narrow, pick-and-choose dogma with which to bulldoze and bludgeon all others into submission.
To me, Christ-ian faith was intended as a personal path (or internal stuggle, at times), which stays true to the "divine within" (yourself and others), and avoids that which diminishes spiritual energy and "closes down the path" (separates you from the Christ-- "anti-Christ"). It is not a multi-zillion-dollar, Armageddon-tempting, world-domination war machine, rotten with profiteering and corruption and name-calling. Well..... That much should be clear, at least....

Synopses & Reviews

The Life and Morals of Jesus of Nazareth
Introduction by Forrest Church
In 1794, President Thomas Jefferson set out to uncover the essence of true religion from the Gospels by extracting Jesus' message of absolute love and service from the annunciation, virgin birth, and even the resurrection. Completed in 1819, this little book is the result of Jefferson's efforts.
"Gives us a preaching Jesus of distinctly human dimensions, without miracles or resurrection A fascinating document, telling us a great deal about a great eighteenth century mind and its world."

There should only be gay marriage. Straight marriage ruins it for the gays. We need a constitutional amendment to outlaw straight marriage. Heteros have had the chance to make God proud, and have failed, as evidenced by the high divorce rates. Let the gays have a go at it. Maybe they will do better. Ban straight marriage!
I don't think 'Therefore, I am.' Therefore, I am.

Too many pictures of Jesus. The hero with a thousand of faces. If He helps you make it through the night, you don't need no stinking theology. What ever else he was I am sure Jesus was an African American. He was just passing through Palestine on his way to Texas.
Don't believe me? Call Him up.
Ry Cooder lyrics
"Ry Cooder Jesus On The Mainline lyrics"
(traditional)
I know jesus is on that mainline
Tell him what you want
Jesus is on that mainline
Tell him what you want
Jesus is on that mainline
Tell him what you want
Call him up and tell him what you want
Well, the line ain’t never busy
Tell him what you want
Wo, that line ain’t never busy
Tell him what you want
Well, the line ain’t never busy
Tell him what you want
Keep on calling him up
And tell him what you want
Well, if you want his kingdom
Tell him what you want
If you want his kingdom
Tell him what you want
If want his kingdom
Tell him what you want
Call him up, call him up, call him up, call him up
You can call him up and tell him what you want
Well, if you’re sick and wanna get well
Tell him what you want
Well, if you’re sick and you wanna get well
Tell him what you want
If you’re sick and you wanna get well
Tell him what you want
Call him up and tell him what you want
And if you’re feeling down and out
Tell him what you want
And if you’re feeling down and out
Tell him what you want
And if you’re feeling down and out
Tell him what you want
Call him up and tell him what you want
I know jesus is on that mainline
Tell him what you want
Jesus is on that mainline
Tell him what you want
Jesus is on that mainline
Tell him what you want
Call him up, call him up, call him up, call him up
Call him up and tell him what you want
