Personally, I think 'cunt' is too beautiful a word to describe Coulter.

sighhh... ugh...

Am I too sensitive to words?

Words are just words are just words, I know, but there are certain words which get me angry and this word is one of them.

Why?

Because I'm a woman and to me, the word is demeaning to ALL women!

as a writer, i am sensitive to the power of words. so, i enjoy using words that are very powerful. "cunt" is a very powerful word, and i enjoy using it, selectively, precisely because of its power. the discomfort felt by some who hear the word is intentional.

imagine the discomfort felt by the widows of 9/11 firefighters after some ignorant cunt says they are enjoying their loss.

lets share some discomfort.

i yearn for the day when "cunt" is used strictly for erotica. until then, it's our duty as moral citizens to apply power in communication when necessary.

i could have chosen another word, but it wouldnt have been either as powerful or as fun.

ann coulter offended everyone who's every had a family member die on them. my use of "cunt" may, to some, be offensive to all women and even some men, but this is still a dramatically smaller number than the amount of people who have had a family member die on them.

cunt cunt cunt cunt cunt cunt.

cut off the hands of the
under-educated,
needle-nosed
twits like ann coulter.
and knowing i'm so eager to fight cant make letting me in any easier.

we don't use any internet word-bleeping nonsense like some sites which replace the words with asterisks

she'd still have her tongue, but she wouldnt be able to hit back, and that means we could have her attacked by midget children, which would be funny.

In just the same way "prick" is demeaning to all men?

Because if you mean it that way, I can agree. No one should be called by the names that represent their reproductive organs.

But if it's the word you don't like, then I disagree. It's just a good old Anglo-Saxon word. No big deal as far as I am concerned.

OK. I see your point, Cat... but as I said words are just words.

I've called many a dick a prick before because when a dick is a prick, it seems deserving and versa vica. :)

I donno why those words don't carry the same weight as being repulsive as the word cunt does to me.

I just don't know.... It's an uglier word to me. Maybe because I'm a woman? I really don't know.

The Answer:

Because women have historically been denigrated for their sex, and men have not. You have just internalized the cultural inferiority of the female sex and that is why "cunt" sounds nasty to you and "prick" or "dick" or even "putz" does not sound so bad.

Obviously not your fault. I just like to point it out.

Objectively, the words are equal in weight and meaning.

Cunt is a nice word, IMO. It's descriptive. It meant something to lots of people a few thousand years ago. The word is older than dirt. Not new. Pussy is a lot newer. Vagina .... is that new or old? I think old. But "cunt" is very very old. We ascribe these value judgments because of prejudices that are almost equally old. Too bad.

Maybe I'm totally wrong here, but I don't think we need to discard the word to discard the Judeo-Christian values that gave it a bad meaning.

Just thought I'd answer the question instead of addressing the political part. The political part tires me ....

You're right. I don't think it's my fault. But I also don't think it's a "nice word" no matter how archaic it is and I really don't think the connotation of the word has anything to do with Judeo-Christian values. Like I said, I donno why I hate the word so much.

I love my vagina tho and my pussy is my best friend though he's now an outdoor cat ... (I know you don't like that idea and that's ok of course)... and has become a mass murderer in the 'hood... birds. Lots of them. He brings them to me as gifts. He's no pussy, my pussy. :D

Thanks for your explanation of your point of view, L.... as always, just trying to lighten it up.

Subjectively, the words are not equal in weight and meaning to me and maybe you're right that my perception has something to do with being denigrated for my sex ... or something. I donno, like I said.

And hey, wanna know what a ditz I am? I NEVER knew until this moment that the word "putz" referred to the male sexual organ.... lol... hard as that may be to believe... (pun intended :D)

Why is it always a he/she thing, cat? Cunt is a more denegrating word than prick because it's associated with a woman's privates? I don't buy that. Society has just made it a worse word.

Example: I could use 'dick' and 'bird'. Is one less dirty according to society because it is associated with a man? I don't think so. Fuck used to be a horrible word, not so much anymore. Cunt hasn't gone through that change so much yet.

Technically speaking, cunt is considered to be the most offensive word in the English language. Followed, of course, with fuck.

True story.

Uh, bullshit. Did I say "bullshit"? BULLSHIT.

Someone needs to READ more carefully WHAT I was saying. Read again, please. I said that is how it is INTERPRETED, and how I interpret it is something else altogether. Read again.
though he's now an outdoor cat ... (I know you don't like that idea and that's ok of course)... and has become a mass murderer in the 'hood... birds. Lots of them. He brings them to me as gifts. He's no pussy, my pussy.
yeah, doreen, you are right. I don't like it. But think why you did it and you will have the answer. Besides, that is off-topic.

diseased penis, literally.

I wish we all had equal rights. Equal. I wish someone's shit didn't have more weight than someone else's shit. It all goes together.
