Harper's Index November 2006
30 % of americans...

I don't think your post was unclear mnaz. You spoke from your heart, which is why I love your poetry so much. It any one was unclear it was probably me.
I just find that a little incredible, maybe even a touch obscene. Are "we" that callous and self-absorbed and distracted by consumerism, inc., etc.?
I find it human. I thought deb got it right, my point was not so much 9/11 as the attention span of americans. As the attention span of congress.

I have not idea what is going to happen, I don't sit up nights drinking and thinking about it. I sit here and tippy tap these keys like I am doing something. I do what I can. Working on the eights. I can even remember what those eight buddhist precepts are, I would be hard pressed to remember what the ten commandments are too.

Talking to my sister tonight and she remembers the birthdays of all four beatles. I can't remember when the Korean war ended, summer of 1953? THat pisses me off kind of.

We lost Davy in the Korean war,
And I still don't know what for, don't matter anymore.

whatever gets you through the night mark
jack daniels on the right miller on the left
I am just a happy drunk.
Maybe you are on the wrong clock, maybe you are a night person, I know I was for many years. Maybe you should sleep during the day work at night. Hey psychiatric advice five cents.

I got the stupid idea that you are losing sleep over George W Bush.

Not going to judge, but it takes something mundane to keep me up at night. I can't imagine staying up worrying about what Bush is going to do.

Yes I have seen the world end many times many ways. In my nightmares. But I like dreams, even bad ones, cheap entertainment. It is those thoughts that come before sleep, on the ege of sleep, the ones that make me bolt upright and start writing.

Its all grist for my typing compulstion mill.

the last angry man
the last angry poem
the last war
the last word.

ramble ramble
help help
I am typing and I can't stop.

Freud wrote a little book called The Question of Lay Analysis, it is a dam good joke.

we can only analyze ourselves, we have a lamp to see our own way, if we are of a mind too.

My car would not start
I opened the hood found a loose wire
Runs fine now

I cut the top of my skull open
took a look under the hood
just a three pound universe in there
an orgasmic brain

we have a lamp to see our own way, if we are of a mind to.
Neuroscience says no one is home
can't locate the Anatman

yes the sky is falling
the sky is falling
on me

We are on course, on schedule
The moon is slipping away from us at about an inch a year
The sun counts down to heat death in ten billion years
They say that Christ spoke of the resurection of the body, not the soul

So the universe expands faster and faster
Gravity grows weaker at a distance
It is hard for me to keep the crayon colors inside the lines of my cosmic coloring book

And then maybe it will all fall in upon itself
and in fifteen billion years
I will be back here
in the same body
the same social security number
typing the same shit different day

LIFE GETS TEEJUS, DON'T IT?
(Carson Robison)

The sun comes up and the sun goes down
And the hands on the clock go round and roumd
I just wake up and it's time to lay down,
Life gets teejus, don't it.

Christ quantum mechanics is a trip
I know just enough
which is nothing
to be astonished
it keeps me in flux
whatever I think
it is way more than that.

Meanwhile
I piss away another day.

KJV: And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions:
Joel 2:28
