i understand it. and i'm in total command of it. and when you think about it, this really relates to what this thread is all about. i know that's kind of profound, but if you really search down deep, you know it's true.

One thing that is not clear to some is that Isreal has a massive Masada complex. They are leaning real hard on that mighty smighty Hebrew god. I read a bit somewhere that the hero of Hexbollah said he screwed up. He said if he knew what the kidnapping would spark the war he would not have done it. So your point about Hezobollah's miscalculation seems to be validated. I think Israel miscalculated too.

I did not mean for my reply to sound racist. I was trying to be humorous. I could understand Israel's reaction. I was trying to get firsty to walk a mile in kosher shoes. We are both riding the same railroad car. He with his pink badge and me with my yellow.

The past is never past they say, some say it is not even past.

During a conference in the Gulf nation of Bahrain, the Bahraini Labor Minister Majeed al-Alawi questioned Defense Secretary Robert Gates about Israel.

Majeed al-Alawi: “Secretary of Defense thank you very much for the excellent speech. I was wondering whether you think the Israeli nuclear weapon is a threat to regional security or not?”

Robert Gates: “No, I do not.”

The statement by Gates was greeted by laughter from a room filled with government officials from Middle Eastern countries. Gates said there are significant differences in terms of both the
history and the behavior of the Iranian and Israeli governments.

Robert Gates: “I think that Israel is not training terrorists to subvert its neighbors. It has not shipped weapons into a place like Iraq to kill thousands of innocent civilians covertly. It has not threatened to destroy any of its neighbors. It is not trying to destabilize the government of Lebanon.”

uh, reality is unnecessary.

I have read that every Israeli soldier takes an oath that Masada will not fall again.

It is a contingent universe I do believe. Maybe this time will be different.

In what could be a first for an Israeli official, Deputy Defense Minister Matan Vilnai has threatened a “holocaust” in Gaza if rocket fire continues. Vilnai said: “The more Qassam fire intensifies and the rockets reach a longer range, [the Palestinians] will bring upon themselves a bigger holocaust because we will use all our might to defend ourselves.” An opinion poll taken this week shows 64 percent of Israelis favor a ceasefire with Hamas—the highest majority to date.
