Sting: Obama best person to handle world's 'mess'
I just skimmed the politico story about Dick's comments, hester, and I have to say I agree with you. Dick is truly a dick. I never believe anything that man says. It's all a sham to promote an agenda, therefore it is all suspect.
"War on Terror" is a term I was leery of when it first got used. "War on ..."anything has never worked, not since the Johnson administration and the War on Poverty, nor since the Reagan administration and the War on Drugs. Declaring "War" on some abstract thing just makes it live longer, in my view. It perpetuates what ostensibly is to be eliminated. This is what I most appreciate about Obama's shying away from use of the term. I think he digs. War on Poverty didn't work. War on Drugs didn't work. Why would Dick Cheney or anyone else think War on Terror will work where the other two examples did not?
Because Dick Cheney's a liar.
He's not stupid. He's smart enough to dig this as much as little pissant me does, as much as Obama does. He digs it, all right. That's how I know he's lying.
Someday he will die. Long before Obama does, with certainty.
Peace,
Barry

Yes, that is comforting in a horrid sort of way. I despise the guy. Why is he even allowed, (aloud) out in public? Why don't they arrest him for this?????? Hell at the very least muzzle the ass.
I have to fight myself from going to the "I don't care anymore" place.
I don't want to stop hoping for and caring about my Country. It's difficult.
Thanks for your reply and agreement that Cheney is a dick.

I have seen plenty of wars end in my life time.
But yeah there is always a war going on somewhere. War is as inevitable as patriarchy I suppose. One of things I am looking forward to is more Atrazine in our water supply. It is fixing the frogs and pretty soon it will be fixing us too. By us I mean males and by frogs I mean feminization. We are the the super predators at the top of the food chain. And that stuff flows up the chain.
Yes the invisible hand of the market place will save us.
There I go with the chimps and bonobos again.
Environmental-Chemicals-Are-Feminizing-Boys
sorry for the digression. They say I pander to women. Oh well.
I just hope that Jesus that Obama believes in is not the same Jesus that got George W. Bush elected.
But it probably is.
And god is probably still on our side.
I can hardly wait to see a picture of Obama at the Wailing Wall.

I should use more emoticons but they are such chick things.
I would have felt better about him had he written a book for his mother.
Everything coming up ying yang for me
I see it as testosterone poisoning
Maybe one day when there is a better balance in the worlds governments between men and women we won't be having all these words about wars
the faith of the fathers
did slowly go bye
teach your children well
their fathers hell
big daddy in the sky
don't weep for me

OBAMA
Yes, Obama, he a 'soul brother'. To me, that means a black man with
a connection to the world soul..."All in due time, my pretties, all in due time.." There is no instant soulution to the problems of idea pollution.
Obama has been duly elected as no president has in many years. Yet, some of those who elected him are impatient and do not see the lessons
of history. This large recession, as the great depressiion, will not be over until we have sustained our economy, hired and created new work(ers), &
ended the war in Iraq. The war in Afghanistan, by its urgency, is an open ended conflict similar to what happened in Korea. We are STILL in Korea.
Afghanistan must be propped up and helped. I think that Somalia may eventually need the same treatment. But, this help needs to come from a world coalition headed by the big powers through the United Nations.
Many of you do not remember the armistice which ended the Korean Conflict. I do. I also remember the various wars in the Middle East, except for the first war in 1947-48. The Korean Armistice was the first political event I can remember outside of Eisenhower's first election.
We need a "Marshall Plan" type policy with the United Nations sponsorship in the failed states of the world. A failed state in our hemisphere would be Haiti. All these type places need help from the United Nations and the economic world powers. This partnership must have the cooperation of all able nation states in this world. We should realize that world government by international law is a necessity. I realize there are neo-isolationists who think we should just place our collective heads in the sand. But that is what caused the international terrorists to strike at will at various locales. These international criminals should be hunted down and
eliminated from doing the world any further harm. Otherwise, they will beg, borrow, or steal nuclear or some other weapons of mass destruction and wreak havoc to gain some sort of twisted political advantage. This effort to hunt the terrorists needs to be a worldwide effort, just like the elimination of piracy and slavery needs to be a worldwide effort.

Obama's the man
Oh hell, yeah!
"The history books tell it, they tell it so well..."
The Europeans came and Islam finally fell. They eked out
a living with a shoestring and pride, now half the Islamic world
is starving or died...to paraphrase "With God on our Side"
But you'll not hear it for me, Alack, alack, but hurray for our side...the side of World Civ, which is under attack...But we need a truce,
Truce is what we need...Because most of the conflict is from opium and oil greed...

You know, it amazes me how people still think about the world in terms of what happened 50, 60, 70, 700 years ago in this fast-changing world. Cold War stuff and beyond. No offense to anyone in particular. I know plenty of folks who will continue to rationalize essentially unilateral US (89% US forces) corporate-energy-resource-based imperial military actions overseas until the cows come home, because it's always necessary. We hate war (or not?), but it's always necessary, and it will always be necessary because it just is, that's all, trust us. I mean, okay, a world coalition is one thing perhaps for these "security" operations (where is it?), but US endlessly playing world cop primarily to further its various megadollar economic/political interests seems quite another to me.
That said, I understand the political "tight spots" Obama inherited on many issues, so I won't quit on the man as a leader. But I will continue to criticize ongoing US policies I feel are inappropriate or unsustainable and/or losing their justifiable place in our ways of dealing with the rest of the world.

Obama's the Man
Obama's the Man...
Onward to fight the good fight in Afghanistan.
Remember 9-11, and may we get our bread leavened
So we can fight with plenty of gas in our burners.
May all good riders of the new age be with us.

Obama's the Man
Obama's the Man...He has the pizazz to ask for help. We need international cooperation with the United Nations & NATO to end the influence of terrorists, pirates, and slavers.
World Civilization, not just Western Civilization is at stake. We need to
cooperate among nations to wipe out these three scourges.
