Don't mess with texas was a very successful anti litter campaign. Texas is Bush Country pretty much. I don't watch television, the article from the san antonio news paper yesterday was where I heard about the shot gun incident. I watch the news hour other than that I don't see much tv. Sorry I am so out of touch.

The family of another Marine from Lima Company in Ohio now is on national tv saying, "this has gone far enough, it's time to bring them home...."

The above is a testimony teach-in by Tom Hayden of the peoples' peace plan. (peoples of Iraq and Amerika, wanna conflict resolution model).....now make a decision to get out with a plan to disengage, begin the withdrawal now and get them out over several months, a maneuvered retreat. Nobody wants to call it a retreat, hey but it is.
You are right, LRodney,
the prez is hiding on his porch with his imperialist clique
and we are indeed the running dogs lackeys,
hey in Waco-a-go-go they off the porch, man
they arrested the redneck who ran over the roadside crosses.

OPERATION NOBLE CAUSE

SITUATION: August 6, 2005 George W. Bush told the world that the parents of fallen heroes in Iraq could rest assured their lived ones died for a noble cause. Gold Star Families for Peace founder, Cindy Sheehan traveled to Crawford, Texas to ask the president what "noble cause" our fallen soldiers died for. Bush has refused to meet and Cindy has refused to leave. Since August 6, 2005 Operation Noble Cause has grown from a one woman operation to a massive campaign involving more than seven hundred people.

MISSION: Operation Noble Cause (Expeditionary): Iraq Veterans are encouraged to volunteer for service in Crawford, TX for a period of three to five days. Airfare, campsite, and rations will be provided. Operation Noble Cause (Service): Anyone not available to travel can support Operation Noble Cause in a variety of other ways: Write a letter to your Senator or Representative urging him/her to issue public statements urging the president to meet with Cindy. Call the Whitehouse Comment line 202-456-1111 and say "Meet with Cindy." E-mail the Whitehouse at comments@whitehouse.gov and say the same three words. Drive with your headlights on during the day and place a sign saying "Hey, George Meet with Cindy!" on your windshield to show solidarity. Organize a vigil or street side
protest in your community to show support. Donate equipment from the list below by contacting us at IVAW@IVAW.net Donate funds to Iraq Veterans Against the War at www.IVAW.Net or to the Crawford Peace House at WWW.Crawfordpeacehouse.Org.

EQUIPMENT:
Though there is no specific "gear list" for those participating in Operation Noble Cause. However, the following equipment is suggested/needed: 1. Military spec General Purpose Tent.2. Military Spec Shelter Halves w/ poles, spikes and guidelines.3. Sleeping Bag/Pillow4. Insect repellant5. Sun Block6. Sunglasses

COUNTER ACTIVITY:
There have been little or no meaningful counter protests. Though a few people with obviously opposite opinions have been active in the area the actions have been very small in number and have lasted only a few minutes.

COMMAND AND CONTROL: Veterans able to travel to Crawford can contact Tim Goodrich at (760)994-6700 for travel arrangements. Material Support can be made via WWW.IVAW.Net or by e-mail to
IVAW@IVAW.Net.

A small sidelight:

I live in the country of California-- sometimes ( as in William Gibson's sci-fi novels) called the twin kingdoms of SOCAL and NORCAL. I lived in the north for fifteen years, now in the south for thirty-some.

In this country:

(California has the sixth largest economy in the world, larger than Italy, China, Brazil and Canada ( the next under California in rank . . .)

called California, government sometimes proceeds by direct referendum. It is a common sight to see volunteers with clipboards outside supermarkets and other public gathering spots.

http://www.lao.ca.gov/2000/calfacts/200 ... part1.html

Unfortunately, some of the legal action taken directly by citizens is ignored. Some of that action results in events like a recall election in which one hundred candidates, including a former Las Vegas stripper and a child tv star vie for the governorship.

The sad tale of who was elected I know I need not recount here.

California's brain often seems to be located in its tail, like some dinosaurs.

For the first time last Saturday, the Farmer's Market where I play music every Saturday morning sported three young and one middle-aged persons with clipboards collecting signatures for an anti- war petition.

I cite California's economic size because it is significantly linked to political activity.

San Francisco, for example, by far the state's most liberal area, has 3.5 million jobs, most of them ( overwhelmingly) involved in high technology and software development. The area sports some of the most progressive politics in the nation, and is one of the wealthiest regions.

So, perhaps things are changing a smidgen. The nauseating gang of liars and miscreants, greedy-fingered ex-CEOS and other human detritus of BUSHCO might be a little less attractive now than in 2001.

I hope so.

I'm going to be the D.A. here Z

this observation is a little questionable.

Saddam's victims never made it to a morgue. They went straight into the ground.

can you hear the beat
old saddam hit the street
mass graves and hideous defeat
oh the morgues are more discreet
we can deny and ignore them sweet and neat
while we bleat like suffered sheep
the same old refrain
but what about saddam?
well we got our man,
his discretion deceipt
his indescretion conceit

All those bodies, morgued or not, make a person want to shout out loud the name of my favorite Welsh village.

Just learning to pronounce this name can keep you so busy you won't enlist for Iraq and create more dead soldiers:

Next time you get angry, say:

"Oh, for the sake of Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogogoch !!!"

I say, you could run for Senator Weinberg on that one.....

He has made a public call for all troops to be out of Iraq by Jan 2006, I believe that is the correct date.

Also have a download from my friend Jay Alexander, at a Monday night vigil for Cindy Sheehan being interviewed by our local pinko radio station. Two ways to get it, via the url and via podcast download. Then move the time clip to 8min 20 sec, for a minute or two of Jaybird.....
Interview on WMNF on Sheehan /Camp Casey

Click Aug 15th 2005

the monday evening news, click the left speaker
wait for scale

then advance to 8:20 minutes in the broadcast is interview on WMNF

or use the pod link
http://feeds.feedburner.com/wmnfeveningnews and click on Monday Aug 15th.....

1858+

us body count from the illegal invasion and occupation of Iraq www.icasualties.org

I made the afternoon street cornering also a candle vigil last evening.....lots of horn honking, peace signs, by far the majority, also several firm fingers, some yells "Bush!" and one guy was stopped at the coner waiting for the left turn light, began ranting, I knew the guy, had worked with him in a nursing home back in 1992, I was a new LPN, he was an aide, a good worker, a student at a local JC, was in the army reserves, was into flying saucers, UFO's, said he was being given a special assignment soon.....
then saw him again in November, 2003, the first Veterans' Day after the Iraq War started.....we had a VFP ceremony at a downtown St Pete park at the WWI vets memorial, segregated with the black KIA's listed at the bottom, wierd, we burned sage and blessed the 4 directions, Anita our pagan chaplain did the ceremony, we read names of the fallen, and there was this strange dude, quiet and smiling, about 50 feet away taking photographs, wearing a press badge, a spook if ever there was one.

There is a lot of public support for Cindy Sheehan and Rep Maxine Waters wDem, LA, went to Texas to meet her.

Don't mess with Maxine.

Maxine Waters is a source for good on the planet. I am familiar with her here in LA. ( Los Angeles, not Louisiana).

I, too, went to the candlelight demo here last night, about 8:15. The vigil was called for 7:30 and had begun to break up and trickle away just a bit when I arrived, but there were still about a hundred and fifty or two hundred of us there at the Civic Center, under Old Glory on his pole. In a city of a hundred thousand plus that's pretty good.

The organizer met us personally in small groups and asked us to write letters to Congress supporting Cindy and calling for the US OUT of Iraq, as part of a California Peace Action ( a reverend peace group hereabouts) letter salvo to the Feds.

It was a nice experience, strength growing and flowing from the group.

Our ambiance was similar to yours-- a few hundred honking horns and peace signs out the window, fingers brisk in the incipient fall here by the Pacific ocean. Nice cool breezes under the advancing evening fog.

I sure wish the peaceniks would stop driving those SUVs, though.

After 16 years with our old Honda Accord, we ( being forced to) bought a Hybrid Honda Civic. Great auto, since we still have to drive the damned little things. California gives a tax credit for zero emission vehicles too.

Getting 45-plus mpg. Gas here is about $2.70/ gallon.
