my pappy's buried in Blanchard, Lousiana
little old town
when I was in the Air Farce, being an upstanding young pilot for freedumb and dumbocracy,
was flying to DC for a quicky tour before shipping out to Vietnam
sat next to a fellow who worked for Uncle sam
told him about a little health clinic in downtown Blanchard with a side entrance for colored folk in 1970
He said he'd check into it
When I later visited Blanchard, the colored folks sign was painted over on the side of the building, but the side door was still there.
And I got into the shits with my southern kin, who never knew bout that, just about my battle fatigue from Nam.
damn, will I never forgive Uncle Sam, whose legacy has been such a sham.
whose intent is never to be awakened,
whose struggle is never to be framed in constitutional amber waves of grain and foam
just spittle and blood
and abuses of power for personal gain?
David Duke needs a Eurotrash girl
Al Sharpton needs to not jump into th fray withour descerning the situatuion more completely
like he did in Durham and Brooklyn
and the black students in Jena were not without fault
let justice fit the crime
and the students who hung the nooses at the tree for whites
have not been changed one bit
and the tree was cut down
that beautious spreading oak
cause somebody didn't keep their place
so far nobody has died
since that last time in east texas
mebbe we should try for recalcitrance
not excess
don't listen to content
just suubjective intent
cause we are all corrupt in our own ways
especially me
aloof and alone in my corner of the abyss
