Democratic Congressmember Pete Stark has set off a furious Republican reaction with his comments on the House floor. Stark said: “You don’t have money to fund the war or children. But you’re going to spend it to blow up innocent people if we can get enough kids to grow old enough for you to send to Iraq to get their heads blown off for the president’s amusement.”

please excuse this ramble but it has been on my mind lately
The medicare plane D drug coverage for seniors makes the SCHIP for children look like chump change.
To bad the kids don't have a lobby as powerful as the AARP

He shouldn't apologize!
He said what everyone knows and hides!
Why do we feel so compelled to hide the truth, truth that not being spoken hurts us all? Who hasn't already said this, albeit it, dressed it up in fancy words???????
I say rave on starkly, Stark!

Strange, somewhat garbled outburst.
"You don't have money to fund the war..." seems to contradict "... you're going to spend it to blow up innocent people..." (isn't that essentially funding the war?)
But that last part of the statement is to the point... the children as cannon fodder part... hell yeah... fund the children, especially the poor ones, so they'll join the Arrmeee. Bee all that you can beee...

I did
not get it either
garbled
Hester what did he say, could you give me a link please?
or a direct quote
What did he say exactly
I got find the quote again
it did not make much sense to me
at best it was counter productive
huckabee's comment about the hippies and free
drugh
relates to this it seems to me
the republicans so eager to protect us from our selves
going to have all those hippie parents making 62,000 trying cash in on free medical care for their kids.
These are the looters of the public trust we are dealing with.
morality has so little to do with it
unless you still believe there is good and bad or good and evil?
I wish Stark had been more elegant
more poetic
and said it like it is

they come in on january 20 2001 with their greedy eyes on the clinton surplus, was that our peace dividend they stole.
I think stark missed the point e-dog
plenty of fucking money
it is socialized medicine that they oppose
after all for a family of four 62,000 dollars is a princely sum
you could live like a Saudi Arabian on that.
they don't want to see our good old american rugged individualism corrupted by a bunch of hippies.

did ya hear mccain'z reefer to woodstock?
he couldn's make it
he was "tied up at the time"
they got a museum to john mccain in hanoi
next door to the baskin robbins icecream shoppe
where they sell ho chi mint tea
and ponder thhe air war that they endured
when i was in cam ranh bay
back at the base
i went to see the woodstock movie
with all the military hippies
guys in fatiguies wearing beads and peace signs
and we were all stoned
thanks to the vietnamese mamasans who were our hootchmaids,
then the vietcong sappers came in from the south china sea,
snuck into the ammo dump,
took one,
split,
then it exploded
and caved in the movie theatre
we left it for the russians to repair
cambodian sweet red
4 cents a joint
too bad there was so much destruction around that whole scene
what're we talking about
rugged individualism?
why we do not conform to their mind numbing confirmist paens.
bushwhacked zombies.
more hyperbole please
congressman stark!

Ok Jim
but Bush was not at woodstock
he was too busy defending the country
flying obsolete jets
in Alabama
The issue is socialized medicine I think.
Yeah more hyperbole
it will play well in Peoria
I wonder what Bush does for amusemnet
do they tape pictures of combat wounds
for him to watch
does he keep severed limbs in his fridge like idi amin
Hyperbole cannot make the man any worse than he is
He is the american dream
Jesus wants you to be rich.

What Bush does for amusement?
He probably farts alot, and laughs hysterically each time, when he's not listening to his co-horts tell him how great he is.
Meanwhile, someone we have ever heard of or seen, is really running this country.

ha ha
i had to stop drinking soy milk
even beano did not work
i don;)t laf hysterically tho
it reminds me to be mindful in good company
passing some gas at this moment
and you guys tell me how great i yam at times
when you are not telling me my farts stink
but i appreciate the humor folks
better than despairing
now that poor congressman stark has thrown up his hands in apologetic dismay
saying that he hopes he becomes irrelevant once again
wonder what they had on him
?
actually bush flew f-102's in texas for one year
a delta winged interceptor from the cold war
incase thhe russkies flew some bombers or migs up from cuba
then he missed his annual flight physical in the summer of '70
because he had cocaine in his system
then he got busted and his daddy got a judge to give him a community service probation sentence
he didn't fly in alabama
was working on a local politician's campaign so they say
or ding his sentenced community service in houston for that cocaine bust
none of which is all so bad
just that he is such a warmonger now with other young men's lives.
faces of the fallen

click on it to see a mosaic of his sacrifices in iraq
for his goddamned war of choice and lies
with more yet to come

That's just history jim, the cocaine, the dui, the awol so on and so forth, it don't mean nothing. It all came out when he was running for govenor of texas and that was his answer to the charges
"That's history"
And he went on to win
And win again
and again
1 2 3 4
what are we fighting four
next stop Iran.
hard to believe they are at it again
maybe the challenge is just to stay out of iran at this point
will they really do it?
Who is running this country?
You mean it is not the hands rocking the craddles?
What are we here for?
I done know
just to be having a good time I suppose
Pete Stark is an atheist
Sounds like he had a good time
The trouble is
there is nothing to be said about this government that makes any difference anymore. The corruption, incompetence, the insanity, are beyond hyperbole.
I don't know why it does not make me sad hester
too much for my nervous system to deal with
I just go numb.
"eat drink and be merry, because tomorrow you might be in Utah."
I don't think stark is right about the either or
Not about the money
it is about creeping socialism
the money is a pitance by federal standards
35 billion over seven years
five billion dollars a year.
Children have no lobby
They don't vote.
The AARP has a hell of a lobby
So does the pharmaceutical industry
Bush's Medicare Plan Will Cost Almost Double What He First Claimed. "The federal government plans to spend more than $700 billion during the next 10 years to provide drug coverage under Medicare as part of a landmark bill signed by President Bush in December 2003." Originally, Bush's prescription drug plan was to have cost $400 billion over 10 years. [Chicago Tribune, 2/26/06; Washington Post, 1/29/04]
Bush and his pals are only trying to protect our moral fiber.
We are all such moral weaklings
our thirst for free hand outs would sap our bodily fluids
We can't have all those hippy children corrupted by medical care.
oh shit
I am happy
Hester
happy to get to live this long
life is sweet for me now
that my libido is almost gone
I look forward to a calm old age
what are we here for except to amuse each other.
ranting and raving
done
sorry edog
