(edit)

Mailer was a pretty nasty customer. We saw him read once or twice. He was drunk, obnoxious, sort of pimping his lil' beat buddies. And while beats were not exactly 'burbs types, they didn't try to stab women. Er. well, at least they used a pistol. Taste! Mailer also had that perp-writer Abbott released early, and then perp went out a few days later and snuffed another person .

That a writer advocates something, or writes some heinous crap (even Mailerian sort) does not, however, put him at communist or fascist dictator level.

What's so wrong about Mailer?

Isn't he the man who started Village Voice amongst others?
I don't think 'Therefore, I am.' Therefore, I am.

Sorta Hemingway meets Stalin and bad porn. Loud, egotistical ugly social realist, even if occasionally correct. Whatever. NY jass. NY must be liquidated. Ishallah!

PS jimI was not going to delete
I like that picture a lot.

I read an article somewhere from a reviewer who mentioned how few books by Mailer anymore. Hard to believe Vonnegut never won a pulitzer, just trashy sci fi I suppose, not a srious writer like Mailer.

Mailler thought a lot of Vonnegut, said he was Mark Twain, said he even looks like mark twain.

I have never read anything by mailer

I think I will check out that book Norman was talking about
Armies of The Night?

Even if we are on the internet, we're still only human.
Only manure. Ashes to ashes, dust to dust.

(I enjoyed The Armies of the Night. I bought a copy along with Kerouac's Desolation Angels. I agree, by the way. On The Road isn't my favourite book by him either. The girl at the counter told me I should read Charles Bukowski and Jim Carroll. (I think I still thought at this point that I could be straight, and I was giving it all I got.) I read the Mailer and Kerouac while camping in Maine and New Hampshire. Bears.)

You shouldn't delete if you don't want to.
Kerouac would say you shouldn't delete at all.

I was trashing around on my hard drive when I found this link

Bukowski stuff.

<object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/uu10kef-oqY&re ... ram><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/uu10kef-oqY&rel=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>

Kerouac redeemed himself
with his books
I call him St. Jack sometimes
those saints were not perfect either

I just want to move on
I don't want no body to trip my trigger
I think it was a mistake a misunderstanding on my part
I missed the 8) emoticon
maybe I mis read
I am going to take it at face value

jimbo is right
I think you mis read mnaz

"your way is the only way" st. jack

Just tried to watch the bukowski youtube video you posted, truckin...

Got this far...

He said, "The young blonds with the tight pussies came too late."

Geez... what an asshole.

I stopped watching it.

yes it was ugly
maybe i should a put a disclaimer
parts of it were pure rage
the interview with his ex wife the one he was kicking was ineresting
she describing the incident years later, how the camera kept rolling, the camera man recording every kick, the son of bitch should have knocked him on his ass with that camera.

the second one
the roll the dice
and laughing heart
so beautiful
as beautiful as kerouac's best
like a totaly different poet

too bad it was taken down
tom waits reading it
I can only hope maybe some one could find another video of it
you would love it. honest it was so fine

your life is your life
don’t let it be clubbed into dank submission.
be on the watch.
there are ways out.
there is a light somewhere.
it may not be much light but
it beats the darkness.
be on the watch.
the gods will offer you chances.
know them.
take them.
you can’t beat death but
you can beat death in life, sometimes.
and the more often you learn to do it,
the more light there will be.
your life is your life.
know it while you have it.
you are marvelous
the gods wait to delight
in you.

-The Laughing Heart; Charles Bukowski

I am looking for roll the dice
