As you know, I work in a Catholoc hospital in Tampa and thru the years, have met a number of Cubans. One thing they all have in common: they hate Fidel.

There are dissidents in Cuban jails rotting away.
I just wrote a letter to my congressman, a Republican, and the 2 state senators, one either party, telling them to support Congressman John Conyers' pressing for an impeachment of Dick (head) Cheney, the veep. In the letter I stated that the veep is guilty of high treason and deserves the death penalty. (He was instrumental in th bogus set-up of the Iraq War that has caused 4000 American KIA's). I can say that, within legal terms, here in America, yet in Cuba I wouldn't last 2 weeks.

I still buy CITGO gas, support Venezuelan democratic socialism. But I can not dispute the numbers of anti-Castro exiles who I have met. They came here in 1960 and all the way up to last year.

I think we should open up Cuba, not boycott it. Anybody gonna vote for Raul? Don't vote would go better inside Cuba.

this one deserves a better translation and I will do this challenge on Friday
I have things to do today to prepare for the next 2 days at work, radiation safety test, and other such things, get groceries, do a work-out.
adios commandante presidente.

Fidel Castro renunciation to the power in Cuba
"My desire was always to comply the duty to the last breath"
Fidel Castro announced its renunciation as the president of Cuba and commander-in-chief, in a message published this Tuesday in the cover sheet of the official newspaper Granma. "I will not aspire neither I will accept -I repeat- I will not aspire neither I will accept, the charge of President of the Counsel of State and commander-in-chief", affirmed the Cuban leader, with almost half century in the power.

Fidel in speech in the stoops of the Faculty of Right of the University of Buenos Aires, May 26, 2003.

I neuter, of 81 years, announced its renunciation after almost 19 months to convalesce of a severe illness that carried it to yield the command of the country with provisional character to its brother Raúl.

"It would betray therefore my conscience to occupy a responsibility that requires mobility and total delivery that am not in physical conditions to offer. I explain it without drama", affirmed.

I neuter communicated its renunciation when they lacked five days for the historic session of the Parliament, in which should be advanced for the reelection of its mandate for five years more.

But in December passed, the Cuban proxy had said in a message written that he was not grasped to the power neither he intended to impede the advance of the new generations.

"He arranges likewise our process of the intermediate generation that learned next to us the elements of the complex and almost inaccessible art to organize and to direct a revolution", he declared in his message of this Tuesday.

Passed from March, out of the public scene, only seen in videos and photos, Fort he was dedicated to write articles of press under the title of "Reflections of the commander-in-chief".

"Not me dismissal of you. Desire only to fight as a soldier of the ideas. I will continue writing under the title" Reflections of the companion Fidel ". It will be a weapon more than the arsenal with which will be able to count. Perhaps my voice listen itself. I will be careful", underlined.

I neuter notified the Cubans that "the road will always be difficult and will require the intelligent effort of all". "I distrust of the apparently easy paths the apologetic one, or the autoflagelación as antithesis", added.

"To be prepared always for the worst one of the variant. Being so prudent in the success as firm in the adversity is a principle that cannot be forgot. The adversary to defeat is extremely strong, but we have maintained it to line during half century", underlined.

Leader of the last communist government of West, Fidel Castro freed in this crisis of health a battle against the death, struck by the age and a health that, as said, drags the abuse of "risky times".

The night of July 31, 2006 surprised to Cuba and to the world with a historic proclamation in which announced that yielded the power to its brother Raúl, with provisional character, by suffering a sharp intestinal crisis with bled "maintained".

Without revealing up to now what illness bothers, Fidel admitted that he was to the edge of the death. He descended almost 20 kilograms in the first 34 days of crisis, he had several surgeries and he depended for months of "veins taken and catheters", he as confessed.

One thing they all have in common: they hate Fidel. I know... you already told us about it.
I can´t hate Fidel. Maybe because I don´t live in Cuba or Miami.
I never was in agreement with the lack of free-speech and disenso and the prohibition to leave the country. I never also understood at all how the party elected their authorities, I´ll never research about that though. I was never in Cuba. I don´t justify Fidel but at some point is easy for me to understand him and his government.
I wish him a peaceful go and good times for the cubans!!!!!!!!!

jimbo: good week !!!!!!!!! :) It´s a good translation!!. I´ve been working nine hours a day the last two weeks (too much for my taste...) plus the daily things. And I didn´t work out because the too much heat!!

He was a hero in 1959 when I saw him on the Jack Parr show when he came to New York City to speak at the United Nations. He stayed Harlem's Hotel Theresa, he kept live chickens in his room. There were questions about whether he was a Marxist. Just rumors. Then he went home and the executions started. Not so many I guess, a couple thousand? But not all Batista thugs, teachers, doctors, intelligensia.

You don't see many American flags in little Havana. At least I never saw many... not that it matters.

Watching the video of the frail old man in the track suit. He will die peacefully in his sleep probably

Adios Fidel

First learn how to write semi-acceptable Anglo (or maybe try espanol). The deaths are fairly well-documented. Google away. In comparison with say Mao and the Red Army tho' from 1950 to 1970 it's fairly tame (or in comparison to Nixon/Kissinger). Fidel's perhaps not the most sinister leftist leader of recent years, but murders there were.

Id' buy him a cervesa: SALUD, vato. Sorta Miller time, or whaa Tiempo de Tecate. Gals love red dicktators, too.

I was a true believer in 1960
Still a year away from voting
but I was all the way with JFK
such great speeches
reminds me of Obama
But Jack I hardly knew ya
Bay of pigs
they say he had to prove he was the real deal
they say Krusty was testing him because he thought JFK was a whimp, the impression he got from their first meeting in Vienna?

I am still hoping that hillary is going to redeem herself. I know I am a sexist, I have just about given up on men. Do you think Obama is going to try and prove himself with some bold plan like JFK did. Assuming he gets elected.

what was this thread about?
