Ms. Livni told Cheney that the task at hand is to "seperate the extremists from the moderates" in Hamas. The same concept applies to the Israelis and Americans. We need to moderate, express concerns clearly to the Palestinian leadership and ask for their ideas about how to deal with those concerns. They should also get a Palestinian evaluation of said concerns, Hamas and Iran, to see if there is an alternative way to look at the situation. It may be true that the israeli-American point of view is accurate. If the Palestinians can not deny the accuracy of the situation, or if they differ, then the thinking about progress will be enlightened. At this point, there is only formal intransigence.

Note as an afterthought: we should also be talking with Hamas annd Iran.
