Watching it for the second time now.
Dam dam,
why do i keep thinking of cassandra.
Going to take some notes
this is one of or the best thing I have seen on the subject. She lays it out.
Breaks my heart the bit about the breast milk.
She is right, I remember the fifties pretty good. Planned obselence was a hot topic back then.

Dinocassandra knew, but
knowing means nothing
in a world reeling

I donno why your post reminded me of this poem i wrote back in 2000. I used to write a lot. Back when I was a poet. Long time ago.
~toasters, machine guns, tabloids, & bartenders~
five toasters in eighteen months.
wal-mart sucks.
damn antagonists with marketing
machine guns using realistic language
and down-to-earth slang -
borrowing phrases from tabloids,
newspapers, bartenders,
and MCI telemarketers
to sell us junk!
we are throw away junkies.
everything's disposable.
i need a fix.
might buy a billboard.
post myself up there
maybe hope for
a drive-by hug
on the internet
highway.
fuck it.
i'm toast.
gimme some
strawberry jam
and cream
cheese -- breakfast
in a sleeping bag
on a road trip to wherever
or just a rat-a-tat-tat
me 'til they publish it all
in a display ad -- check
me out at the grocery store.
it's all advertising.
take me.

I can't scroll it back, watched three times
just some partial notes
going to head down town
maybe go shopping
thanks for posting this one again
I need to check it out throughly
see what is within my power to change
I am going to try and live smaller, try to use less,
Babies are getting the hightest dose of toxic chemicals of anyone
just some partial notes
99 percent of what we buy gets trashed in the first six months
We must turn our shopping into a rite, seek our spiritual need into consuming
Eisenhower admin, somebody said that the ultimate purpose of the US ecconmy is to produce more consumer goods
51 percent of the largest ecconmies in the world are corporations.
We are not paying the full cost of those cheap tosters we ain't paying, because they have externalized the costs to other countires.
I feel like I am drownedThe golden arrow of consumption
going to head down town
maybe go shopping

the engine that drives the system
the golden arrow
retail analyst Victor Lebow (sp?) came up with

One nice thing about trash is I can break stuff, I can't explain the rush I get when I let my temper go and break some piece of crap that is aggravatin me. Twenty five dollar radio, walmart of course, stopped working two months after I bought it, I would looking be forward to listening to a show and the dam thing would be on the frtiz. Had to keep fiddling with it.
Not very zen. That pleasurable powerful feeling of letting go.
I am sick puppy
good poem I like the bit about the toasters, so you noticed too eh?
good post
helpful
I feel morally energized by it
sorry about the typos
I will try and fix them later
