President Obama

Just testing out how it sounds.

Looks like he's got the nomination sewed up.

Now there's talk that Clinton wants to be asked to be his VP.

I know that might be a "dream ticket" in regards to assuring they win because she's got a lot of followers, but I lost my enthusiasm for her when she started badmouthing him. I don't know why he'd pick someone who talked dirty about him so often. Wouldn't be too sound.

God, I wish Al Gore would be his running mate! That would be so fine!

But I doubt Gore would want to be VP again.

Here we go... general election coming up. Put yer boots on.

I think John Edwards would be a sound decision for VP, but regardless I'm glad Obama got the nomination.

Arcadia - What does 'amenaza' (threat?) mean? I'm trying to battle through with my French and Latin skills. Obama has spoken out against Iran, but I think he's more inclined to diplomacy and talks then the Bush/McCain ideal of bombing and then bombing some more.

yes, michael: "threat", "the danger Iran implies to us?". I don´t think he´s thinking on bombing Iran a la Bush... (& the text didn´t say that, don´t worry  ..) but it surprised me somehow that the first note (here and in that particular newspaper, of course!) about him as a sure presidential candidate included that kind of declarations about Iran and Israel. Well, I know he´s running against Mc Cain, in a country with a war still going on & so-pro Israel, with rising oil prices and with personal accusations of being muslim-blind. I guess it´s ok...!

(also it would be interesting to know if he said that in english too... translations here are very frecuently sobre-interpretations -at least in films titles!!-)

you eliminate the menace of Iran
first of all
by being rational
you eliminate the inflammatory irrationality
so right off iran is less menacing
then with a more rational frame of reference
you begin to understand iran
and wonder how they can benefit from positive relations
and sell them on that

they know their limits

of course hezbollah has gotten a large quantity of short rane missiles from somebody
maybe enough to deter israel from another air war onto lebanon
however
one wonders if this is enough to deter hezbollah from attacking pre-emptively israel

obama has some creative and reasonable insights into dealing woth hezbollah
he says we need to help strengthen the lebanese army
and to help the lebanese govenrment to offer social services to the people living inside hezbollah controlled areas, in order to marginalize hezbollah. Just a thought.

look,
i got outa th air farce because i hated the bombing in southeast asia an i wasn't going back,
but i had no qualms about th dr stangelove biz
it was th kid in a hut waiting for a BOMB THAT SPOKE T ME

we need the ability to become an international player in a positive sense
like in darfur, mynamar, and so forth

besides
having a liberal-progressive as the commander-in-chief
means truth and rationality
what i have been waiting for

veterans for obama!~

Obama Works A Tough Room at AIPAC

In case anyone missed the point, Obama added: "I will do everything in my power to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon." He repeated that sentence twice, for emphasis. And for additional emphasis, he said again: "Everything."

Seems like a poor choice of words, eliminate.

Here is the translation of Arcadia's post from google

Quote:
Obama said that work to "eliminate the threat of Iran

There is no greater threat to Israel or to peace and stability in the region that Iran, "Obama said in a speech to the influential pro-Israeli lobby, the American Israel Public Affairs Council (AIPAC)." The danger of Iran is serious and real and my goal is to eliminate this threat, "he said.

About the existence of a future Palestinian state, Obama said that "the Palestinians need a state which enables them to develop and prosper, but any agreement must protect Israel as a Jewish state with Jerusalem as its capital without divided," said Obama. The division of Jerusalem is one of the main Palestinian demands.

Obama, 46 years and senator for Illinois, succeeded yesterday the number of delegates needed to nominate the convention in late August to the Democratic Party's presidential candidate for presidential elections next November in the United States, by defeating Senator for New York, Hillary Clinton.
Eliminate seems like a poor word choice.

Rhymes with liquidate, obliterate,

What threat does Iran pose to the usa, more than Pakistan?
