Looks like McCain thumbs his nose at democracy.

He's 72 years old. He's had several bouts with cancer. It is totally irresponsible for him to choose a running mate who may not have the experience to step into the job of president. After meeting her only two times in person, he can assure us that she could do the job? I'm certainly not convinced and I had no say in the choice. None of us did.

What was that, "Wait 'til you get to know her like I know her"? He only met her two times!

People will compare her experience level to Obama's experience level but what I'm talking about is democracy.

We have had 19 months to listen to Obama speeches about the issues, examine his record, get to know him, weigh his strengths and weaknesses, etc.

By democratic process during the primaries, he was selected by the people and determined to be capable and quite suited for having the job of president. He was nominated democratically.

If McCain gets elected and dies while in office, Sarah Palin will be the President of the United States. She will hold the highest public office in the land and one of the most powerful positions in the world.

Obviously, McCain's judgement is not intact. What was he thinking? Sure we would love to see a woman as either president of vice president, but not just any woman.

This would not be such a major issue if it weren't for McCain's age and health. But even if he were healthy and young, it would still be an issue.

If I were a McCain supporter, this irresponsible choice would make me change my mind and not vote for him. What other choices will he be irresponsible about? This shows his lack of sound reasoning. Or else maybe he thinks he's immortal?

I find this situation scary at best. I can't imagine what would happen if McCain gets elected, then dies, and Sarah Palin becomes president.

He had many choices. He made a poor one.

I mean this woman is against abortion for rape victims! She's anti gay, and a lifelong NRA member! A beauty queen, like Mrs. McCain....she so represents the republican male, so represents McCain's desperation in this election. She is the kind of woman that I totally loathe, that I feel betrays her own gender. I mean she has nothing to offer! I had to laugh at what Keith Olberman said about her...heh, "what's she gonna do at the convention? Kill a moose with her bare hands?????" Heh.

Again, I'll quote Bill Mahar...."Evil can kill alot of people, but ignorance can kill more....."

Exactly. It was a choice disrespectful to any thinking woman or any thinking PERSON for that matter.

She is a token woman, a political ploy to try to get Hillary's supporters to vote for him. But Hillary's supporters are smarter than that. You may not like Hillary (I believe you've said that in the past), but you have to admit she is a strong woman with a lot of experience who is respected by men and women alike because of her achievements and work.

Sarah Palin cannot compare.

Hillary is probably shaking her head in dismay at the moment, despite her most gracious acknowledgment of the choice. As are her supporters.

Frankly, as a woman, I'm insulted and as a human being and citizen of this country, I reiterate that it is more than troublesome, it is scary.... because if he wins and dies, then what? Then she's president and I shudder to think of what that would mean to the country and the world.

Let's hope that this most irresponsible decision (as his first most important decision in his position as candidate) will put big red flags up to those who have been supporting him up until now so they will stop supporting him. Just imagine the other dangerous decisions he might make! With this decision alone, he's potentially put the whole country in a severely jeopardized situation.

yeah, it looks too bizarre!!! but we had here also an old man with her third wife running as vice president in 1974... (skip the context) so I guess my surprise capacity is a bit damaged...!!

He's just trying to show that he's with the times. Far as I'm concerned he way back in the olden times.

Saying that Sarah Palin is qualified to hold the second highest office in the land is so completely preposterous that if you believe it, I have some tropical resort property in North Alaska to sell you. It's right next to the oil well that sits where the caribou used roam.

She is even less qualified to be president than our least qualified president, George Bush. She was president of the PTA, mayor of a tiny town and governor of a state with less population than my hometown. She has five children, that's admirable, but hardly a qualification for running our country.

(I think they should have omitted the PTA credential on her resume)
