i am talking about the last time we flew into Phuoc Vinh
foormerly a place of dense forest, it was desolate and barren
when we Americans left

Now it is only a memory. The abuse of military power, for ideological compulsiveness continues. Young soldiers are right now being court-martialled for refusing to go, or return to, Iraq. They are alone, fearful in their jail cells.

yes indeed, and it is good that la pagina is interested
El final de la historia es conocido: con medio millón de soldados en Vietnam justificados en un incidente militar fabricado,
yeah they told us if we didn't fight the commies over there, they'd be coming up from south of the border! i swear!!!!!

i support the afghanistan intervention, because it is a truly international effort, and because it is justified, not a fiction

if we become the solo big gun there, it will fail
as has every occupying outside force in Afghanistan before

they do have a central government which is anti-terrorist
and does want to improve civil rights, especially women
and before it was a haven for international terrorists
which coes concern th entire world

but there's only so much any country can do alone
plus the scale of activity needed in that area is much less than the inflated massive military occupation inside Iraq (and Vietnam)
so no i don't think we will be "bogged down" in Afghanistan
because it will not be a bank breaking treasure draining imperial morass

anyway we as a nation have got to learn about how to work with other nations for military efforts that are more sane and where the military action does seek to implement a better peace, but not at the expense of a tragic imposition of will upon the third world

i celebrate obama because i hope this is the end of the era of american overbearing tragic bezerking, with a history causing very real untold suffering. needless and terrible,
and the beginning of a more balanced and beneficial international policymaking

i am against using airstrikes in areas with civilian populations
the rub is that we send out soldiers on patrol, they get a confrontation, they call in air support

there's a limit as to what we can do as an occupying military
we ran off th taliban
ran off al-quaida
now they want back
so we hold em off

for how long and with how much?
depends upon other nations who share in our concern

otherwise, make friends with their neighbors
who also share th same concerns
wow what a novel idea
control their activity
if possible
and we need to shore up our port facilities\
and end the violence at home
where we got a real lo intensity war goin opn all th tyme
civil unrest
domestic violence

hooray we getting new visions
sigh

For me it is just to listen to a man that does not talk like some character in a da da abusrdist play

Just to hear someone who is articulate, who can string a few words together in a sentence that actually sounds like English.

It eases my mind.

Yes the world is in a hell of a mess
But at least I got that much to hold onto

I celebrate that.

How valuable are American Values?

I only ask because I heard Obama says we should spread our values around the world.

Obama's Use of Complete Sentences Stirs Controversy

In the first two weeks since the election, President-elect Barack Obama has broken with a tradition established over the past eight years through his controversial use of complete sentences, political observers say.

Millions of Americans who watched Mr. Obama's appearance on CBS's 60 Minutes on Sunday witnessed the president-elect's unorthodox verbal tic, which had Mr. Obama employing grammatically correct sentences virtually every time he opened his mouth.

But Mr. Obama's decision to use complete sentences in his public pronouncements carries with it certain risks, since after the last eight years many Americans may find his odd speaking style jarring.

According to presidential historian Davis Logsdon of the University of Minnesota, some Americans might find it "alienating" to have a president who speaks English as if it were his first language.

"Every time Obama opens his mouth, his subjects and verbs are in agreement," says Mr. Logsdon. "If he keeps it up, he is running the risk of sounding like an elitist."

The historian said that if Mr. Obama insists on using complete sentences in his speeches, the public may find itself saying, "Okay, subject, predicate, subject predicate -- we get it, stop showing off."

The president-elect's stubborn insistence on using complete sentences has already attracted a rebuke from one of his harshest critics, Gov. Sarah Palin of Alaska.

"Talking with complete sentences there and also too talking in a way that ordinary Americans like Joe the Plumber and Tito the Builder can't really do there, I think needing to do that isn't tapping into what Americans are needing also," she said.

Bring back some sanity and balance.
Obama will do that because he is that.
