Nice post, HP.
The thing Bill left out, though, was the reason the mainstream media have such a hard time "talking truth to stupid." It all began when news departments became rquired to show a profit, i/e became "ratings-driven." Before that the news was actually the news, for the most part, and money was lost with every production. Now it's pretty much entirely fluff, or whatever viewers want to see, and money is made with every broadcast. Bread and circuses, you know? Bread and circuses.
The fault lies not with the media, but with the viewers. And refusing to be a viewer is not the solution. It just goes on without you then. The only solution is for the viewers to want better from the media. When the people who want better don't watch, the only change is things get worse.
