Every time I see a pregnant woman I think "there goes another optimist."
Thinking about those women living in refugee camps who have five, six, seven,... ten children. I am sure they have no choice.
Yes it is a man's world.
What the world needs now is more refugees.

The news is always bad. The international situation is always desperate.

So eat a lot of peaches.

I wish I was going to live another twenty years so I can see how it is going to work out.

The news is always bad. The international situation is always desperate.
Why do the call it "news" when there is not anything really "new" about it?

We could blame the media but the media is not always about wars, killings, murders, rape, pillaging, terrorism or whatever other negative situations go on worldwide. But that's the crap the so-called 'news organizations' work with... and with the immediacy of what people see and do thru the cyberspace makes for more and more 'news'. Hence, the 24/7/365 news networks. These networks have at their disposal all the damn news anyone can stomach and a lot many folks would be better off not hearing.

You can blow up your tv, turn off the radio, not read the papers and still it is going to seep in somewhere. The focus shifts, Iraq, Afghanistan, Somalia, and on and on. No we don't need news. It is just impossible to escape it.

Enculturation, or acculturation not sure which but we are born into an extro-biological womb of culture. It shapes us from the moment we open our eyes on this world.

I think about our space ship earth shrouded by a cocoon and cacophony of electro-magnetic radio waves and tv signals, language voices in the ether space, nazz driving around in his old truck searching for a place still untouched by the grid.

Sorry I am rambling. So many dots unconnected here.

I think I mean we got all this stuff coming at us day and night
hard to rise above it
not sure if I can

SPECIES ETHIC
Our animal nature, our biological nature is to live in relation to other people. The natural enviornment of humans is primaily culture, not the "natural world," narrowly defined as other species, climate, etc. The sudden and startling growth of The human brain around one million years ago was not in response to saber-tooth tigers, retreating glaciers, nor the intellectual challenge of getting nutmeat out of is shell, but in response to the emergence of culture itself. The brain mechanisms of self-defense, of predation, of territoriality, of sexual and family group affiliation, and of defending offspring have not been supplanted by culture, but raher speak through it in ways that we poorly understand. Culture is not illusory, movie-theater projection of bodily "drives' or "instincts." nor is the body a metaphor; wholly constructed by culture. Culture is as biologically real for humans as the body. Unless in a coma, we are always both culture bearers and bodies at ever moment.
