Dear Church:

Post by Arcadia » July 1st, 2010, 4:06 pm

lot of dennounces about pedofila in local churches and around the world during the last times... and the Old Catholic Church in an ancient reaccionary movement is calling their huestes for battle again specially in every confesional school (the JAEC is led by the Opus Dei). The main points seems to be:

1) A culture of "forgiveness" (to stop the trials against dictators)
2) Movements against the gay marriage that it will be discuss in the Congress soon

some actual articles related with point 2, the Church discurse about point 1 is more subtle, at least in the media:

the catholic school where the sobrino of my sister in law assists invited all the parents to go to the tent in Plaza Pringles to sign and manifestate against the gay marriage... in coordination with the red light of the semáforos at the corner where is my dept we had all the week a cartel hold by two young people with a photo and the slogan: "one father and one mother for each child"... It seems the algid point for the Catholic Church is the "adoption risk" if the homosexual marriage is approved by the Senate. I can understand and accept that some people think different (I also hadn´t had a formed opinion about adoption some years ago, now I think is somehow heroic in any case or state) but I can´t stand the plus the Church put in this, movilizating and doing campaña inside the educative system, sometimes in an insidious way...

regarding the 'church thing' and marriage for gays, I find it very interesting that even the same arguments are being waged in your own country as they are here in the U.S.. No matter the country the argument is the same - equality for all... and I strongly feel that the time has come here in the new millennium with which we are all so strongly a part of.

No matter the country the argument is the same - equality for all... : yeah, also amazing the variation of argumentations that could be around one topic.. even to define what the topic is, looks difficult to consensuar...so complex we are, it seems!!!! :) (I´ve been listening through the TV this afternoon the Senate and Diputados debate around the equalitarian marriage vs civil union or let´s talk about other topic or whatever and surviving of glaciares vs Barrick Gold & some provinces´s interests)

this Church (with a capital C) thing-- centuries of self-important abuse and repression, missing the whole point. And then you have its charity and edification also. Whenever I think of "Church" and/or "religion," always tempted to throw them out for good, but not "throw the baby out with the bathwater" . . .

mnaz: Whenever I think of "Church" and/or "religion," always tempted to throw them out for good, but not "throw the baby out with the bathwater" . . .well, I have problems with the concept of "charity" as it is understood by the Catholic "Church"´s hierarchy -at least here-... and yeah, I know I´m not in a good moment dealing with institutions...! (I´m about to read this book, maybe I get some inspiration! : http://www.libreriapaidos.com/libros/0/950121525.asp)
