sindical violence

Post by Arcadia » October 21st, 2010, 8:54 pm

it´s been happening for a while -last year?, two years ago?- damn, I don´t remember well- we had here a battle camp in the middle of the city (I was an ocassionaly testigo while in the bus back home...) Now a 23 years old student-militant kid died... so sad...!. Most of the sindicatos dirigencia here are still big camaleonic mafia corporations that didn´t doubt to transar with power with each government... , and lot of people (I included) is a bit tired of that... I would like the government be more careful to whom do winks... and at the same time that all the people try to be more calm... it seems it´s so difficult to confront power without violence-risk and it seems everybody now wants to take political redit about it... so sad that some change always carry a death... :( This is the kind of day that I would want to say: fuck you peronistas! and to think our history without Perón... I know it´s totally irreal and reactionary but it feels that way.... Sorry for the rant, I promise I will return to reality soon and walk the middle path!

there seems to be so much unrest worldwide with one side or the other wanting to not only have their say, but to have their way. all this unrest and unnecessary violence can only be the initial tremors of a situation that will find a fair and equitable solution for the vast majority... we can imagine such a conclusion, can't we..? :)

"it seems imagination is a difficult task for stressed monkeys.."

interestingly, the Bobono chimps have long discovered a remedy for stress. i think we would consider the remedy 'imaginative'..? ;)

Male monkeys, "it takes a long time for them to shut up and listen"

Cutting and Pasting from Utah Phillips interview on Democracy Now!

I saw an elegant and ancient culture in a small Asian country devastated by the impact of cultural and economic imperialism. And the impact of an army of young men given unlimited license for excess of every kind, of violence, sexual, booze, what have you, drugs—a blueprint for self-destruction. And I knew that if I endured that, I would perish, I would simply perish.

It was right then that I decided that the idea of manhood that I had been given, that blueprint for self-destruction, that my father had lied to me about manhood, my drill instructors, my Army sergeants, my scoutmaster, my gym instructor in high school. They had all lied to me about what manhood was, and it was up to me to begin to figure out what it really meant.

I tell you, what I learned was—I decided that the great struggles, the wars that you’re talking about—it could be the Bosnian War, it could be the Pol Pot and the Khmer Rouge, it could be the Korean War, it could be the Iraqi War, whatever, it doesn’t matter—it’s all—every—the thing they all have in common is that it’s young men with guns doing it to everybody else. Women aren’t doing it. Kids aren’t doing it. Old people aren’t doing it. Disabled people aren’t doing it. It’s young people with guns, you know, that are doing it to everybody else. And we don’t have a problem with violence in the world.

We’ve got a serious male problem. And I bought into it, so I know. And I’m buying myself out of it, you see. It’s terribly, terribly important for me for people to understand that and begin to shut up and listen. The most important movement in the world is the feminist movement. If we can really figure out what’s going on between men and women, the other problems will take care of themselves. I’m sure of it.

today a recital in Buenos Aires to recordar Mariano and demand justice...

Cecil: the bonobos?, no idea, you´ll make me google it!!!!!!!!

t-j: We’ve got a serious male problem, well, we are in times where inter-being (in Thich Nhat Hanh words) is more clear for a bigger ammount of people, that´s good or at least interesting!. And yeah, there must be also a serious solution somewhere, I guess...! Now, seriously: great interview!. I´ll search Utah Phillips in youtube, I want to listen him sing!!!!!!! :D .
Last saturday Amy Goodman was interviewed in my favourite international-politics programa in state tv. See:
