'Saddam Is The New Hitler' -
Bush Tells Europeans

By Anne Kornblut and Charles Sennott in Prague
Sydney Morning Herald
11-21-02
The United States President, George Bush, has reminded Europeans of the heavy price they have paid for appeasing dictators and challenged NATO members to join him in confronting Saddam Hussein and fighting terrorism beyond Europe.

In a speech to students on the eve of a two-day NATO summit, Mr Bush compared the challenge of the Iraqi President to the Nazi invasion of Czechoslovakia in 1938, which led to World War II.

Whose name did American politicians use before anyone ever heard the name Hitler?

"Hillary Clinton's Putin-Hitler analogy" (6 March 2014 Last updated at 13:49 ET)
By What in the world? Pieces of global opinion
When Russia began issuing passports to Ukrainian citizens, it reportedly prompted former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to compare the policy to Nazi resettlement of ethnic Germans prior to World War Two . . . Her words, the first time comments about the Ukraine crisis have been attributed to her, have given columnists license to play the "Is Russian President Vladimir Putin the next Adolf Hitler?" game.

Former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright told BBC News Pentagon correspondent Joan Soley that she understands the reasoning behind Ms. Clinton's reference . . . The Washington Post's Charles Lane calls comparisons to Hitler "the mother of all analogies" and such speculation as "a growth industry".

good question. there's always some bogeyman out there (generally impeding our access to controlling oil fields or markets in some way-- jeeez, whatta coincidence!)

I read through some old litkicks poetry-and-politics threads from feb. 2003, right before the Iraq "shock and awe".... hard to believe some of the things that were written.

over on AC, the brainiac moderator-- with a straight face-- condemned russia for not making a presentation to the u.n. like colin powell did. are you kidding me?

Christian republican zombies,

I have heard that Hitler is disappointed with Obama

geez mnaz, we had to invade somebody
we had to do something,
I wish we had invaded Lichtenstein instead,
or maybe Canada, we still got a score to settle with George III

I guess Putin is taking Crimea back

like Teddy took Panama

No we had to do more, we had to invade two countries. One invasion was not enough.

yes, a two-fer-one special. I think the reason we've had so many 9/11 conspiracy theorists (or "nuts," if you prefer) is that it's so damned easy to picture cheney licking his chops on that horrible day, immediately on the horn to his secret pentagon agents ... "get me all the dirt on this guy that you can"...

ahh, don't mind me and my rattling mind. just venting ....

and I think to myself, what a wonderful world.
