Neoliberalism – the ideology at the root of all our problems

Post by stilltrucking » September 18th, 2019, 8:41 pm

So pervasive has neoliberalism become that we seldom even recognise it as an ideology. We appear to accept the proposition that this utopian, millenarian faith describes a neutral force; a kind of biological law, like Darwin’s theory of evolution. But the philosophy arose as a conscious attempt to reshape human life and shift the locus of power.

Barack Obama’s Biggest Mistake
It rhymes with ‘schneo-liberalism.’ It was an economic disaster and a political dead end.

Some people have been calling it "Corporatism," and/or "Randian/ism." But yes, maybe those are just sub-aspects of the whole thing.

many of my friends on the left don't want to entertain this...it's as if I've become some kind of a radical wingnut

the art of distraction comes from close-up magic....when the magician is sitting right at your table, and he cleverly gets you to follow his right hand as the left hand steals your watch
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

I never heard of neoliberalism until I read a post by Veronica about it. aPParently it trashed the economies of more than one South American government.

i am a neo-paleontologist
these days yearning for the good old days when the apex predators had no need for credit cards, wallets or pockets,
before we were naked in the garden
before fig leaves
when snakes still rode bicycles
