Truck Driving Secret Agents

Anybody else hear about truck drivers being recruited by the government to keep an eye out for terrorists? Was watching the news and there is a new 20 million dollar gov't program in the States for this. Basically they give truckers a crash course in what to look for and how to spot, "suspicious" behaviour....they even have their own special numbers to call in case of they spot someone who they suspect is a threat to national security.... Nothing against truck drivers, but anyone else think this is absurd?

*SQUELCH* Breaker-breaker 10-4 good buddy!! Got a suspicious family of with a suitcase on the top of the car. They appear to be from a desert-like country. I can't hear them but they are talking to one another, possibly about a terrorist plot and I suspect the suitcase contains a nuclear device, requesting permission to run them off the road.

I wonder if they get a de-coder ring and tin badge?

Gee, I hadn't heard about this ingenious development Trev, thank you for informing me. See, I'm one of those old diehards that honks for luck in tunnels, and gives the yank sign to truckers so they'll toot their big truck horns! Better stop the yankin eh? they might say i'm a terrorist!, even though, I'm just tryin to have fun.....

I have got to stop having fun! It's just not safe!

LOL...yeah no kidding. But the gov't has got society where it wants it...so jumpy and paranoid....like a group of poorly trained truck driving watch dogs is going to save the country...shit, that's almost zany enough to be a blockbuster movie script...perhaps Patrick Swazye and Charlie Sheen can play the leads...the bad guy leader will be played by Ben Kingsley reprising his role as Ghandi.

Another sad thing I find is that the American gov't is going to now require Canadian visitors to have passports....like that's going to do anything. A) obtaining a fake passport for international terrorists isn't really all that difficult. B) America has been unsuccessful for who knows how long trying to prevent people from Cuba and Mexico from unlawfully entering the country so why do they think a silly little piece of paper from Canada is going to make the country safer. C) Slowly but surely, America is turning itself into an Isolationist country. I dunno, just saddens me because there goes a long healthy relationship between neighbors who just put up a small fence between their yards. I guess its no big deal, but shit like this always seems to burn the common law biding citizen. Now anyone wishing to visit the States from Canada has to shell out yet again (not sure yet if the Canadian gov't has decided to go tit for tat on this one). I think passports are up to $110 here in Canada....not sure what they are there.

Anyways, viva le Trucker Army!!!! ... lol...next month the CIA will be training up school kids to spy on their parents...and video clerks in case someone rents too many war movies...lol

Well new or old news is kinda relative isn't it? Actually on Friday I saw that on the news, so its kinda scary that even though as you said they've had problems with overly zealous truckers in the last 2 years, they've just sank another 20 million bucks into it...fuck the education system in the states, just keep pissing money away then train the entire uneducated work force to be super secret agents...lol

One of my favorite bits from the news: people are seen taking pictures of a chemical plant in Houston. The security guard comes to investigate. They flee the scene shooting at him as they go.

You would be suprised how many ex cia agents there are driving trucks, lots of ex cops, former war heroes, astronauts, in fact some of them have done so many things you wonder if they must be around a hundred and forty years old to have done so much in one life time.

don't mean nothing just tired of looking at DD hanging there for all the world to see.
