It's funny how our experiences run in a random but parallel synchronicity. Yesterday our NetFlicks package arrived and we watched I, Robot. Then today I read the transcript of Scott McClellan facing the White House press corps on the subject of Karl Rove and the Plame case. These two experiences were eerily similar.
I have long thought that Scott McClellan reminded me of a robot, endlessly and flawlessly repeating the recorded messages. He also reminds me of those old Clutch Cargo cartoons with the cheap animation where only the lips of the characters moved.
The White House press corps has been goaded by public outcry on the internet to ask the right questions on this subject. They finally got off their asses.

I can't believe it....they treat the press like they were children or groupies!
They all should be impeached, for lying, cheating, stealing and especially now, for waffling.....! How the hell did these people get where they are?

The last person in this world that I would want to be right now is Scott
McClellan. (maybe with the excetption of Karl Rove) They are making him go out there and shill for an admistration that is obviously stonewalling. He had to repeat the party line dozens of times today too.
I guess he's the perfect man for the job. I couldn't do it.
I met Bill Moyers once. It was when he had just resigned as Johnson's press secretary. I'll bet he couldn't do it either. Journalists have a nasty habit of getting stuck on the truth. McClellan doesn't appear to have this fault.

Baghdad bob, he took it like a man, right up to the airport. I hear he has a new job in public relations. Asimov, been reading him now, listening I mean. The Small Black Bag some short stories. I I heard a sond byte from that interview, "good question ...not the the proper time, address it later. Gimmee time to think of an answer.

I sometimes wish there was an eleventh ammendment, to protect the people from the so called news business. When did news stop being a public service and become bottom line oriented entertainment? The Last book I read by marcuse, maybe the last book he wrote, it was a critique of Marxists asthetics
