For some comprehensive background on US imperialism after WWII, try part II of Joseph Stromberg's reading list.
This list was originally published in 2001. It's interesting to see Stromberg's comments about Al Gore and King DUB II written at that time.
"Manufacturing Consent" is an important book any free-thinking citizen ( and artist) should read.
