Did you read the interesting article in Rolling Stone, December 1st interviewing John Rendon, and documenting his role in spin-doctoring the public perception of the issues (WMD) in Iraq. Incredible.

If there were a lower form of slime-sucking sewer rat ( and I shouldn't write that, since I like rats . . .), Rendon would be it.

All this is like a very bad science-fiction novel.

I usually approach the Foxian righters with the topic of hunger and poverty and homelessness in America. 9 times out of 10 I find they are in complete denial that this is a problem in this country, or, they blame it all on the persons, "losers", who are hungry and poor........
I avoid talking about the war when this is the case.
I mean, why bother?
You can't break through that kind of arrogant denial.
The "America can do no wrong denial"
Based in fear.......
Immovable beast, it is.
A veritable terroristic value really......
I avoid it like the plague.

The ones with the mountain top shroulded in the clouds brings back beautiful images. At the top of Monorch Pass in Colorado, I should have gotten out of that truck and sat down in the falling snow until I was enlightened

I was just looking at the mountains. And remembering the biggest snow flakes I ever saw, hardly falling, gently suspended in the air.

I am in a resolute mood. What I can be do is plant a seed in the Foxian mind, no head butting is going to work. a little gentle irony can go a lot farther then debates, a bit of humor, a smile, or an eloquent silence. Ya know jimboloco Homeboy was a lifer, twenty years a doctor with wings. All through the war we never debated each other, we never hated each other, we were brothers. We never fully agreed. He loved his job, I think it was like socialized medicine to him, never had to worry whether an airman third's wife could afford the cost of her care.

Maybe stop through Roanoke with a custard pie, in case it would help that nurse feel better if she pied me for not showing up for her yoga class at the shul that friday night.

the key word here might be "now".... because back then, nearly 3 years ago, when this particular war was being framed and conjured by the most profitable kingdom builders of the land as essential for our security.... another 'buzz-word', thought to be out of favor in the wake of the 9/11 Commission reports and the Duelfer report, though extracted from its short retirement again last night in the President's speech.... At one point, at the dawn of 2003, through all manner of subterfuge and intimidation and carefully twisted data and phrases, it was quite a different matter. A slight majority of Americans were led to believe that this war was unavoidable, like so many wars before it. And once the mobilization and invasion began, there was an irreversible momentum to the process.... now, forever cursed by then.
