Punishment For The Poor
By
Richard Moylan

Those of us who are financially challenged are punished relentlessly by the multi- billion dollar corporations that we are forced to deal with to survive. If we did not need these corporations to survive I think most of us would tell them to take a hike! I’m talking about utilities, financial organizations such as banks and any other firm that can separate us from our money. Lets face it they are not out here to offer us a service that’s their second priority their main goal is to make money.
A lot of us from time to time will find our selves living from pay check to pay check barely making ends meet. During these hard times we might fall behind in our bills. When this happens it starts, the snow ball effect of late fees, penalties, and over draft charges, punishment for being poor. The poor keep getting poorer and the rich get richer. Them that has gets.
I often wonder what would happen if one day a big hearted executive would decide to offer a little help to a struggling customer of twenty years in stead of an over draft charge or a substantial penalty for early withdraw? It would be nice if this executive noticed the struggle his good customer is having and offers a little assistance. Dear customer, our records indicate that you are behind in your payments, would you like to skip this months payment in order to catch up on your bills? Fat chance!
My favorite form of punishment for late payment is the threat notice more known as the cut off notice, when executed, can disrupt your life more than your services. You can’t flush your toilet when your water is cut off! I bet there is a health code violation there?
Another form of punishment is psychological, the relentless hounding of professional collectors who use the phone. They have a one track mind, the only thing that will satisfy them is a promise of payment, they are unforgiving! Some will insist that you break the law, they demand payment, a post dated check, knowing you don’t have the money to cover it. Writing a bad check is against the law isn’t it?
Yes everyday we are punished for being poor. In some cases it’s our own fault, were poor due to our short comings. In some cases it’s not our fault there are many reasons for financial devastation, medical, educational, or maybe we were just dealt a bad hand but regardless of the reason do we have to be punished for it? Why do we have to keep paying for what we don’t have? Has big business gotten so stingy that our well being is less important than our money?

Reads good Dick. Clean. Unlike what follows

I remember Homeboy telling me when he was busting his a$$ during his first year of med school. "Jacky life is a shit sandwhich The more bread you got the less shit you got to eat" He was 18 years old when he figured that out.
I am the black sheep of the family
be kind to my dogs and teach my children to pray

I tell you I am sure glad to be living in these enlightened ages, if this was merry old England during the 17th century I would be living under the jail. If you catch my drift.

This should probably be a snip sometime but I don't lose much sleep worrying about money, hardly ever lose any sleep over it. It does not wear me down into a deep dark depression about the good old days when I was making the big money. The Bear, still the same dick-head, that is what I love about him, all that pain and suffering that went with that brain tumor and all he regrets is that he can't frame houses anymore.

It is so easy to deal with your honor
I listen to funkadelic
I have another peice of a chicken factory fried drum stick and I sing
I knew I had to rise above or drown in my own sh*t
I wonder if I sound like I am complaining about not having enough money?
I might as well be complaining about the weather, or women. The bear says to his wife "a bullet is cheaper than a divorce." Holy smokes this is Texas, how many times have I had him tell me the story about the guy who shot his cheating wife in bed with her lover. And walked away scott free.

,
enjoyed reading it Ducky,
Well done
and a kick start for me this afternoon 8)

If we did not need these corporations to survive I think most of us would tell them to take a hike!
we need them to survive???
that's a laugh

anyone can plant vegetables, or raise cattle, or make artifacts or ideas to exchange them for food or currency
it's like changing a car wheel, you've gotta know how to do it
only it takes more time

if you spend your life relying on battery chickens fed on rubbish, GMOs that are sold before being tested, and color/taste/texture agents and conservatives which are officially cancerous,
well
you'll survive all right
that is, if the company you work for doesn't fire you for working too well to exploit kids in Indonesia instead, you've led such a healthy life that you'll probably die a few months after retirement (like a good citizen).

we don't need them
yet
right now, they're only convincing us that we need them, as a commercial tactic
one all the other exits have been sealed, however, and it'll be impossible to grow anything outside of these corporations, then we'll need them.
But how any race can survive in such conditions remains to be answered.
