Have you ever found yourself at the mercy of a fast food restaurant? Every time you hand over your money you become a prisoner, standing in line until they decide to give you your order. Sometimes that process can take some time. With all the advancements in the fast food industry you would think fast food would get faster however amidst the technology, confusion becomes hi-tech. With intercoms blaring, video monitors in plain sight, receipt printers ticking and pictures on register keys some how the order gets mixed up or just plain over looked! Once you give the cashier your money, you’re stuck! I have found that if you request to pay for your food when you receive it the order seems to show up quicker and usually correct. Also holding on to your money gives you the option to leave the line if your order does not show up in a reasonable amount of time.
There are other ways to become a captive in a fast food restaurant. Some employees aren’t shy about sharing their personal lives with other employees and of course everyone in line and this has priority over waiting on customers.
Drive thru, let’s not go there, no literally don’t go there! It’s a gamble, you might get what you ordered or you might get a grab bag! There’s one good thing about the drive thru orders, they have priority over any one ordering inside.
Finally after receiving your food and you sit down, that’s when they decide to empty all the trash cans and you are sitting right next to one. They pull the over-filled bag out of the can and shake it in order to tie it. It doesn’t seem to matter that you are trying to eat. Then it’s time to sweep the floor. The fact that you are in the dining room trying to enjoy a meal doesn’t matter either they just mindlessly go though their routine without giving you a second thought.
Let’s not forget the playground! If you are a kid the playground can be very exiting however if you are a parent trying to feed your children the playground can be quite an obstacle. Some playgrounds are worse than others are. If a playground recommends removing shoes you might not see your kids for hours. If a playground has those guinea pig tubes you might not see your kids for days. The worse thing about the playground is adults are not allowed. How do you retrieve a kid? You have to stand there politely screaming for your children while they holler back one more time!
Every one likes the convenience of fast food restaurants and their affordability but let’s face it; you get what you pay for. I have recently realized that for a few dollars more you can enjoy a good meal with prompt service, unique atmosphere and friendly personal attention with every visit if you bypass that fast food place and stop at one of the areas fine dining establishments.
